Switch between audio playback devices with a hotkey

Luckylock

This neat little open source software is just wonderful, I've been looking for something like this for so long. I have to switch between my headphones and speakers a lot.

Anyway here's the thing.

Well now I know. I made one myself a while back and keybinded it to my least used macro keys.

I was using some autohotkey script before and it was opening up the playback devices menu, going through the devices etc.. it was glitchy as hell, especially when playing games. pretty darn happy to have finally found this.

I had it done via a .bat and using a bat to exe I had it do it with no interface or command lines showing up, still works to this day only issue is adding a new device and it rearranges the order since the .bat depends on the order but this will probably solve that for me.

Awesome, bookmarked.

We found a similar but simpler program a while ago, but keybindings take the cake.

Used to use an AutoHotkey script for this. Might switch to this!

Hello AntVenom!

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

Thanks for this.
Now I just need to find a program that allows me to have comms and audio go through the same device with different sliders...
Kind of a "Gamer" feature that has locked me down to a $30 headset, because no high end headphones have this feature.

Thanks OP, this is just what I was looking for!

The site doesn't include Windows 10 in their 'supports' list but it works just fine.

Another tip:

Late update:

Windows 10 anniversary edition supports audio switching pretty natively, just click the volume icon and click your audio device, you'll get a list.

Windows mixer doesn't work?

It's cumbersome and doesn't alway work.

For example: When i'm using hangouts, it doesn't always show my browser in the list.

Or: I will be able to turn down the browser, but I won't be able to turn down JUST the chat. So any streams/videos/music playing the the browser will also get quite.

I want a program that emulates what this $30 headset can do; Have a slider for game and a slider for chat.

Two devices, one speaker. So I can turn down VOIP (Hangouts, skype, game voip) and turn up system audio independently of each other, and visa versa.

And a good quality headset will be giving up this important feature, so i'm bound to this (Albeit not terrible) headset with a mic that I don't use.

The Plantronics RIG comes with a mixer to do this. The mixer is not bound to the headset which you could give away if you don't like it.
