Why would they be awkward. Thousands of people have birthdays on each day, how is it related. Maybe their birthday was ruined the day it happened, but after that if there is any ruining going on it's their own fault.

Well the date system could make sense.. As in it's now September the 12th 2015, so it's Month-Day-Year.

But than again, you could also says it the 12th September 2015, so Day-Month-Year..... Either way, going way off topic! It slightly makes more sense than most of the imperial system, but that is not saying much
