New GTX series?

So, I've heard lots of rumors about GTX 1000's series, is that true?

We heard stuff about Pascal and HBM.. And HBM 2.0, but nothing has been confirmed, denied or whatever because Nvidia hasn't said anything.

Well, there will be new cards. We don't know if they'll be called 1xxx. We also don't know when they'll come out.

y'know what, i'm waiting for them to get back around to the GTX 5000 series etc, basically until they start re-using old names. In 100 years from now there'll probably be another 980Ti out..

 

Personally though, if they could move awaty from the numerical thing that'd be great. Take a leaf out of AMD's book, make other cards with actual names, like a "Hercules" series and have new add-ons, like "Hercules Rage" or something

i'm sure they will come up with a new naming scheme...GTX 10XX sounds stupid and they will want to move away from it with the new pascal architecture i'm sure...they will find something else.

y'know what, i'm waiting for them to get back around to the GTX 5000 series etc, basically until they start re-using old names. In 100 years from now there'll probably be another 980Ti out..

the numerical system has it's benefits,. but like, they've already done a 7000, 8000, 9000 (and probably before that but that's what I can reemember off the top of my head), so it will start to repeat itself.

GTX A-100 series would be one generation keeping roughly the same scheme as they have now with the high end being GTX A-180 and such. They could do that for 9 generations on a single letter and then 26 letters.
