280x still crushes, especially mine  :P

but honestly amd > nvidia in this round. the 960 loses to the r9 380 quite a lot of the time and more vram, same with the r9 390

I want you to order my next card for me - maybe your luck rubs off :D

its on air, a r9 280x tri x oc from sapphire

i want watercooling to push it more but i dont have the money

outperforms a r9 290 (stock, not overclocked) and is within a stones throw of a r9 290x stock

One of those that is crazy on air but can't really go any higher under lower temps i bet..

Lol I'm so sure.  That's not how it works, benchmarks are always easier to get higher overclocks in. Firestrike & Unigine are MILES easier to run than games.

I agree, i want proof of 1500mhz too, i got my 390 to 1130mhz with no volt boosting... 1500mhz seems bloody crazy.

^ This. I can rock 1565/2100 benching and do it fine. If I try that in a game, instant death. No way it can run in games and not a benchmark

AMD do not have driver problems, i can't say much for Nvidia, not owned a NV card since the G92 core.

 

I always point the 380 out.

But I must disagree with you on the drivers as a past R9 290 owner.

 

Being limited to the most used feature that I use (downscaling) to 3200x1800 just plain sucks, while even a 950 can do 8K DSR if you own a 4K monitor.

Definitely a feature, but 99% of gamers are not going to be using fancy resolution tricks are they :)
