I always point the 380 out.

But I must disagree with you on the drivers as a past R9 290 owner.

Being limited to the most used feature that I use (downscaling) to 3200x1800 just plain sucks, while even a 950 can do 8K DSR if you own a 4K monitor.

Both have problems although I would say AMD is winning the driver game right now

Definitely a feature, but 99% of gamers are not going to be using fancy resolution tricks are they :)

Well asumming a lot of people still play old games, yes it's a very important feature.

Playing Witcher 3 at 2560x1440 downscaled to 1080P monitor makes the game look 10x sharper.

I don't really had any problems with both, except in the first 2 weeks when I got my R9 290 I got BSOD's every single hour, a quick Windows re installation fixed it.

Showing your clocks doesn't prove shit.

If it isn't bench stable, it sure as hell isn't game stable bud unless you're playing fucking Garrys Mod with V-Sync on.

Witcher 3 doesn't have any AA option except FXAA and forcing them with the panel doesn't work for a reason..

I don't own the game so sadly have no experience with it.

A 960 in this case though would be utterly destroyed in such a scenario.

280x still crushes, especially mine :P

but honestly amd > nvidia in this round. the 960 loses to the r9 380 quite a lot of the time and more vram, same with the r9 390

except for 980ti > fury x

Neither Fury cards make any sense, would much rather go 980/Ti at that price range, and high end stupid? TITAN X.

Both Fury cards make sense. Fury X is a niche product, it's compact and will be quite good for smaller builds if you have where to put the rad of course. The air cooled Fury fills the gap between the 980 and Fury X / 980 Ti, but it should be $20-30 cheaper. For most consumers a 980 Ti makes more sence but Fiji cards still have a place in the high-end GPU market.

As for the 960/380 - the 380 is a fantastic card and it's still a mystery to me why people recommend the GTX960. The 960 makes sense only for mini-itx builds and versions like the G1 are just a overkill.

BTW, I'm also waiting to see that 1500MHz Tahiti card in action. It's really hard to believe that a 7970 is stable with an air cooler and such a beastly overclock. :P

280x pulls more frames. That's what matters.

Not if you dump a lot of Tesselation in there.. the Tonga GPU is way better at tesselation then Tahiti is...

 Like way better....

In some cases, if you made an extremely tesselation heavy game, the 380 would start creeping past the 280X.

For Nvidia, maybe...

AMD fixed this bug in their most recent driver update that came a few days ago... guess Nvidia may still have issues with this game bug...

I'll just point out amd's non existant driver support for linux. that's a main thing keeping me on the nvidia side. but if you're going to run windows and don't care about nvidia technologies get the 380 it's really much more powerful.

I think you're referring to windows because in linux it's nvidia monopoly in the driver part. amd's drivers are garbage.
