Instead of an FX-8350, I could go with the A10-7870K, with an R9 390X. My whole idea is that what will happen, is better single core performance. You see, the FX-8350 is running at 4.0ghz with 8 cores. However, the 7870K, is running at 3.9ghz with 4 cores, therefore possibly meaning better single core performance? Am I correct?

Nope, MOAR clock speed =/= MOAR performance.

Nop. both will bottleneck the GPU. One more than the other depending on the game and its use of cores

Go with Intel, like the i5 4460 or something

Pretty sure the single core performance will be about the same. If you can allocate the savings to the GPU or something else and don't need eight cores, go with the quad core, but the octa core is, asfar as I can tell, superior to the quad core in pretty much every way.

So, the apu has half the cores and a lower clock speed. How does that lead you to thinking it will have better performance? If you want a gaming pc, buy a core i5.

That ssd is the worst you can buy. Also, get an i5 4690k and a z97 motherboard.

I've heard it's all bias. And there is a boot up time youtube video, which shows it booting very fast.

I can't as this is at the top of my $1750 budget. If you could fit that in with the red color scheme, sure. But I'm quite fussy and even brown PCBs turn me off motherboards. I only buy ones with fully black PCBs. xD

Look if you can get Windows 7 cheaper, due to the free upgrade to Windows 10 it's basically irrelevant at this point. I got mine for €24 in Germany, and an OEM for that much money is just kind of an outrage.

Also, at this price point, I'd heavily suggest an i5 as well.

Also also, your cooler is a bit overkill.

What do you think of the above? I don't really want to go with the i5 4460 as I'll be overclocking.

Overclocking is not the be and end all of performance

the 4460 will perform better than an OCed 8350... overclocking does not magically make something bad good, its just a way to eek out an extra few % of performance

This is sadly the best I can get. I'll see how much it comes to with those though. I'll see if I could manage to fit them in.
