Phononic CPU Cooler the HEX 1.0 - Big Cooling in Small Package.

Just came across this in fb!

This Phononic CPU Cooler, the HEX 1.0 - They say that its gives more cooling performance for its given size more than any other cooler in the market. NH-D15S ? Yeah.

It uses Variable Assist Cooling tech. the world's first Solid State CPU Cooler which promises to beat coolers like the NH-D15 with only a single 80mm fan.

The Phononic CPU Cooler technical specs include:

- Fan heatsink with integrated Phononic solid-state heat pump
- Integrated 80mm fan with fully enclosed blades
- Compatible with the latest high-performance Intel processors
- Tested to TDP levels greater than 175 W
- Dimensions: 4.3" x 3.5" x 3.5" (H x W x D)

The Phononic CPU Cooler will be available for delivery in November 2015.

What does it do exactly? No liquid ? Sounds like a normal CPU cooler to me with a SSD bullshit added onto it to make it sound fancy.

Also I highly doubt it can rival the NH-D15 with that bloody size. It doesn't even sound mathematically correct. Maye if it was a tiny close looped system maybe I would believe it however am doubting this garbage.

It's a Peltier in a CPU cooler.

Someone in the Overclock3D forum said that.

They could be wrong. I don't know.

Looks like a normal tower cooler, with a whole lot of nothing as to how it works. Snakeoil.

TDP of 175W. That's not even enough to reach most consumer chips' thermal barrier when overclocking.

If it's amazeballs like they say, they should make a bigger one.

And an 80mm fan? Who wants to hear that screeching hell

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I spy with my little eye a TEC, those cheaters ;). Seems cool I guess, wouldn't own one personally(too pricey, TEC's are a pain).

And then only if the CPU fan died.

There is a peltier between the CPU contact plate and bottom of heatpipes. That's what stands for the "Solid state".

It could provide lower temperatures for the CPU but the peltier itself is notoriously inefficient. What it makes up for lower CPU temps results in higher heat output at the body of the heatsink.

High heat output at the body? Can you explain what you mean ?

Then they should say that and not Solid State nonsense. Don't confuse the consumer when you do that means less money for you.

What I meant by "body of the heatsink" is the heatsink itself. The heatpipes and the fins. The addition of the peltier adds a lot of inefficiency to the cooler and that results in waste heat. That heat will then go to the "body" of the cooler.

Just so you know, it's not nonsense. It is indeed called a solid-state cooler because there are no moving parts (refering to the peltier itself). In traditional cooling, you have a heat transfer medium that moves around the system. In the case of regular heatpipe coolers, there is a tiny amount of fluid inside those pipes that carry the heat away from the base plate and onto the fins. Same thing with fridges and ACs.

And it would almost be a relief if it was a Delta fan.

Wait a minute. When Cooler Master tried the same shit in 2009 with the V10 they had two massive heatsinks and the Peltier needed 70W of power. Did these people find a new magical peltier element that is super efficient? There is a reason that all attempts of using TECs for PC cooling have failed
