Ok i am asking for last time because i have to puruchase my parts this days.

Is 5820k waste for gaming ? ( I will do some multitasking and noob editing and streaming ) I dont want to go skylake because same price like 5820k.

If i choose to go with 4790k i can maximum get it for 300euro less i guess, is 300 euro worth saving ? ( I am not sure for 300 either maybe 150/200 )

I am not like the people who upgrade every year or something, so when i buy something i want to be ok 4years atlest.

It is a waste for gaming, and I doubt that a i7 won't be enough for the type of editing and streaming you'll be doing. Use the money towards something else, i.e a better graphics card or more storage.

In my case i cant get any better GPU or something else i am going 980Ti AMP! Extreme edition. I can show you if you want from what i have to choose. ( I can save max 150/200euro )

I'd go for 4790k

Hmm! Well you sure?

150/200euro worth the save and not getting 5820k ?

I mean, for $100 extra if you are editing, it makes a lot of sense. X99 is getting reaaaaaaal cheap.

Well the editing is unsure, just sometimes but still thats very good example. The price difference is like this 100/200euro max you can save.

Sec i will shows you guys my case.

I would still go 4790K and invest in a better CPU cooler, nicer case, peripherals.

The problem is the only thing i can invest on is RAM i can get 16RAM ...... thats it. But who knows in the feature i can get it anyways if i feel like i need to.

If you say you will just do "noob streamin/video editing" an 4790k will be plenty. Gamingwise you wont notice a difference betwene the 5820k and the 4790k too. Aditionally check out Linu's video about memory speed. Maybe you should go for 4x4 or 2x8 1600mhz memory (if you already go  that far on grafics card and cpu, why just 8 gb of ram? ^^), which can still be overclocked easily to 1866mhz.

Okay something no one has mentioned yet....Yes a 5820k will get stomped for less with a comparable z97 chip for any single core optimised game.....

Anyone notice that some of the latest AAA titles are multi-core optimised? I would predict that buying a 5820k and the associated hardware will serve you for a lot longer than a 4690k, or 4790k, especially seeing as both are a dead end for upgrading. If intel runs true to form x99 will still be viable in 5 years with at least one new range of chips coming out for it. (no I don't have inside information, but they've done it before for the enthuiast platform) even without a refresh you've got a hell of a lot of upgrade potential even without a chip refresh.

Unfortunatly we cant take that decision from you. You have to decide by yourself.

From what ive seen the 5820k is worse for gaming only purpose.

Here is why:

- We cant tell how long it will take that games consistantly benefit from more then 4 cores. (this actually might happen in 10years+)

- On this specific CPU for gaming only purpose the loss in IPC and clockspeed is near to the gain you would get from having this two additional cores, this is why we cant see a huge performance increase/decrease in games which already support more then 4cores in a CPU bottlenecked enviroment on same clockspeeds. We only can see a very small bump when it comes to Physics, which gets mostly negated through the worse discrete GPU performance (f.e. seen in graphic scores on Firestrike).

   ->Therefore:

           - You would greatly lose performance in everything that supports less then 4 cores.

What so ever, you wont notice huge differences when it comes to GPU bottlenecked games with very high settings. AAA titles will perform within 3%. You doesnt even have to bump the clockspeed. But its like the same with any i7. You wont notice a huge difference f.e. from a i7-2600k to a i7-6700k in this specific case.

But when you play alot of games that benefit from higher IPC and clockspeeds then the 5820k is a waste yes. Especially when it comes to everything else then AAA titles.

When it comes to Streaming on Twitch.tv the 6700k f.e. does very well. It has a little better performance than the 5820k on 720p/30fps/med cpu preset/2500kbit/s Bandwidth (on stock), while having even lower FPS drops. (only 10%)

But for sure if the decision is 4790k vs 5280k, i maybe would choose the 5280k. If its 5820k vs 6700k i take the skylake with no regrets at all.

Once both chips are OC'd you're looking at roughly a 300-500MHz gap between the two chips for average samples.

I vote for saving a bit more cash for a 4x4 16GB DDR4 kit and going with the 5820k. Platform wise you can easily stretch it out 4 years, especially if you get a USB 3.1 board that supports NVMe.

i got the exact stuff and im getting a 980ti this week, go for the x99, same power as a 4970k pretty much just with 2 extra cores and higher cache plus ddr4 is being used now so it will be reusable when upgrading, just go for it, i did and i dont regret it

The problem is 3.1 mobos are expensive. I found used MSI MSI X99S SLI Plus on Alternade.de for 160euro and i think of taking the risk of used mobo.

dunno if i need 3.1 or not :/

which usb 3.1 accessories do you have? none? you probably don't need it then lol

also, since you have plenty of PCI express lanes you can always buy an add-in card later on if you do want to use a USB 3.1 device

Get 5820K, regret later for not saving by getting a 4790K

Get 4790K, regret later for not spending on a 5820K

There are 2 gens of USB 3.1, Gen 1 only runs at 5Gb/s so it's the same as USB 3.0. Gen 2 runs at 10Gb/s but you'll have to check out the specs to see which gen it's running on. MSI X99S SLI Plus does not have USB 3.1. MSI X99A SLI Plus does.

The board has a ASMedia ASM1142 controller so the USB 3.1 runs at 10Gb/s
