Official 2016 Election Discussion

HumbleMobo

Lol I'm gonna edit dis thread title once the '16 elections. xD if you read the early commentators everyone was saying "This won't be lasting long" and "This is gonna get locked" Some people just don't realize that you can be civil while discussing politics, yeah I know civil, and politics don't exactly go together but it's happening.

I don't think so, Trump has the money to run an effective third party campaign and has said he will do so if he doesn't get the nomination. I don't think the people who run the GOP are geniuses by any stretch of the imagination but even they know that if Trump runs as an independent, it will split the GOP vote and almost certainly hand the presidency to the democrats.

I was just agreeing and saying that Rand probably won't last.

Trump is an arrogant blowhard and has pledged to not support who is nominated and will split off if he's not picked. It's like a spoiled child.

Maybe we can get Linus to run :3

Oh while I gotcha, out of curiosity is Sweden like Switzerland and to follow up have you been to Switzerland?

Apart from climate and that there is people in both countries sweden and switzerland aren't too similar.

And yet people keep confusing them

i have never been there

An example of the differences is this

Sweden is a "Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy"

Switzerland is a "Federal multi-party directorial republic with thorough elements of direct democracy"

"Life is like a raging river, Its gonna get rough downstream. And people's gonna piss in it"

Personally, I would prefer none of the candidates from either party win this year.

Seriously, I would prefer to just not have a president, but in the end, anyone is better than Hillary. I don't have a problem with the idea of a female president, just putting that out there before some SJW liberal comes along and calls me a sexist, I wouldn't mind a female president, just anyone or anything but her.

Even as a democrat, I'm not too fond of Hillary. I'll probably be voting for Sanders. I just wish he'd stop calling himself a Socialist. Even if it's true, it holds such a bad reputation.

Why is the God of Hyperdeath SO...DARN...CUTE!?

I won't start anything here over the socialism thing, but it makes me happy to see that some of the democrats realize what a huge mistake Hillary is.

She is to democrats what George Bush was the the republicans.

Like I said, I would prefer NO president this time around. Lets let congress take all the blame.

Vote for Rick Roll

I like Obama (although he isn't a republican or a candidate for this election). I think his approval rating in Europe is 20 points higher than it is in the US.
It seems to us like Obama is trying. Gun conrol, Universal Healthcare and state spending on large projects.
I wish presidents could last more than 2 terms. It would be so cool if they could get the major problems of Amerca being sorted.

Europe has pretty low Political standards and they are incredibly liberal! xD Im just gonna change the title to the official 2016 elections discussion

Both parties have some good candidates running but I'm beginning to like this Libertarian guy, you should check him out
http://deeznutsforpresident2016.yolasite.com/Ballot-Access.php

This is probably going to get locked. I like Bush more then trump personally. (but I'm more liberal dispite all that) I think bush can bring more to the table with the rest of the world, can and will get very far with that finical past he has.

It's probably going to get locked, he said, this won't last long they said, deeznuts for president they said....Lol and now we are a hot topic on the top of the off topic list :D

One of my big issues is that none of the candidates seem to be addressing mental disorders and it's kind of disapointing because enough isn't done for that demographic

I vote we abolish political donations and the way current political campaigns are run, in favor of actual debates, hosted in public forums paid for by tax payer funding, in which candidates get into them by collecting petition signatures. All televised, but under the strict condition that there can be no advertising what-so-ever during said televised broadcasts. Oh, and only volunteers in your campaign, no paid experts etc.

Lets just see how that fixes things, when the media can't control the minds of the public, and the rich can't buy their way into politics. Lets see how they like it when we destroy their little playhouse.

Oh, and no political parties. Independent candidates only.

I've always been for the idea that politicians should be paid the same as the average factory worker or even nurse.

Just that should fend off some of the people just doing it for the money.

But other than that i'm completely with you on this.

Our last election over here was just a massive shit flinging contest

Agreed. No political donations, no huge salaries for not actually doing anything.

Civil servants actually receive a very low pay that can be compared to that of a blue collar job.  Here's an example, In(I think) district 28 of Florida, I used to have all the districts memorized lol, you have Patrick Rooney who is very affluent.  Now he is paid a low wage BUT! he is first and foremost an incredibly successful business man that I think everyone should aspire to be.  His name may sound familiar to you football fans out there because, his dad owns the Pitts Steelers but he receives no money/affiliation benefits whatsoever.  That is because he created the Palm Beahc Kennel Club which was a major success!  The NFL prohibits any affiliation with Tobacco, gambling etc.

So it's not really the job they are getting money from mostly it's usually like the management of other businesses.  So the political career and education actually gives the a higher chance of being accepted to be, say a CEO of a charitable foundation or the like

I'm mainly talking about senators and congressmen

Roughly $174,000 per year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salaries_of_members_of_the_United_States_Congress

Many times that of the average factory worker. This is not including all their "political donations" (See: Bribery)

I don't have a problem with political donations, but I do think they should be publicly disclosed. I also think all congress members should be paid the per capita GDP.
