Will I see performance gains or loss with the 960?

I am planning on upgrading to a gtx 960 soon for premiere pro editing and gaming. I don't play any of the high end games. The games I play are wow, mgsV ground zeroes, tf2, hearthstone, heroes of the storm and jc2. The content I edit is always 1080p or 720p with color correcting, text animation, and time adjusting on the individual clips. My worry is that since the 960 has a 128-bit interface I will get worse performance than if I were to just stick with the 660 and its 192-bit interface. What do you guys think? Will I see performance gains in video playback, exporting speed, and gameplay? Thanks for the help!!!!

The actual bandwidth is really the key, and even if the 960 achieves less bandwidth(it does), it has better compression algorithms to offset it and it still performs better in games.

You'll gain in game performance. I'm also pretty sure that workstation workloads would also improve

Not sure but IIRC 960's double precision and some other parameters are 10 times lower

Im sorry, it may just be me, but that didn't really make sense the way you worded that.

Eh, I'm not too sure myself what it is but I know it's used when you want the card to do actual work not game - 900 series are not good work cards

I know that. What Im saying is that I dont know how to find a specific thread if its buried under tons of other threads. I would try the tags in the ltt search bar, but that wouldn't really help.

Ok then, for curiosity,what work card from nvidia besides quadro family would you recommend over the 660 and 900 family?

Well - you sort of answered it yourself - Quadro and Firepro are for work. everything else is aimed at gaming :)

Well I cant afford 2 separate pc's right now. My desktop needs to be able to do both. With a card that can game and edit/render good.

a 770 is a good bet if you ask me

Quite a bit faster than a 660 and also has better computational performance than a 900 series card

A 770 is big jump from a 660 in all departments, even th 680 Is a big jump from a 660.

A 770 is essentially a 680 with slightly higher clocked RAM and GPU Boost and a 680 performs a fair bit better than a 660. The reason why it performs better is due to 1.) higher CUDA core count. 2.) Higher number of ROPs. 3.) Higher bandwidth between GPU and VRAM, and 4.) Higher clocks.

Thing is, I don't have $300+ to put down on a graphics card. So far i'm considering the 770 and 960. What do you think?
