The 390 is the new best price/performance card for 1080p.

I would not have bought the 970 i have now, if the 390 was released when i bought my 970.

When in doubt: C4

this is what pisses me off about nvidia, its still more than a brand new gpu after almost a year, it cost me £289 back in january.

390.

Same price,

marginally higher TDP, the only negative

Better, if not the same performance

More than twice the usable vram = Not having to worry for years

Your looking at a difference of only about 18$/mo running the computer full load 24/7, in the higher priced electricity areas. Power consumption in this case only means having to get a psu with perhaps 50-100W more than the bare minimum you can have with a 970.

I don't regret my 970, at the time it was the best option. And the whole statement of AMD using a buttload of power when compared to Nvidia is just plain wrong. They do use more power, but even in Denmark, where we pay 0.3US$ pr kWh it's not noticeable.

When in doubt: C4

The 390 is a better overall card, so more bang for your buck! I went with the 970 just beacuse i prefer Nvidia.

50W difference at peak load x 24hours x 365days / 1000 x $0.12/kW is about $50/year is you are at peak load ALL YEAR LONG. So, I think realistically you can more than make up for any difference in electricity cost by getting a card on sale. You could also say the same thing about light bulbs... incandescent bulbs suck electricity like there's no tomorrow; do you have 100% LED lighting in your house?

exactly, nvidia are dicks.

i might even move over to amd with the way they treat their customers, shafted us with the slow 0.5gb of vram.

only problem is i could sli on my psu 650 watts, couldnt crossfire on it though, no where near enough juice.

I agree i don't regret buying my G1 970 at all, nothing but amazing performance out of it so far!
