Your favorite Z170 board-design ?

It's a workstation board. They should probably have thunderbolt, seeing as that's the only reasonable use for thunderbolt ATM.

I don't see how Skylake will lack support for Thunderbolt, when most of the current Z97 and X99 boards have support for it. I've read there will be another Asus board called Asus Z170 Deluxe-AR (Alpine Ridge) which is the code name for Thunderbolt 3.

I really like this one.

Hmm not sure if joking, but I think you mean this one: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/feature-asus-debuts-full-line-intel-z170-skylake-motherboards/asus-z170-tuf-series

Also if anyone hasn't seen this here is the Asus comparison chart of all their new z170 boards: http://www.asus.com/us/site/motherboards/Z170/compare/

AR does not stand for alpine ridge. That's the name of Asus' lowest end Z series board...The Z97 AR had nothing to do with thunderbolt

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Some of the boards which don't have a Thunderbolt connector already on the rear I/O panel do still have a Thunderbolt header on the board which you can use with an add-in card. See, for example, the ASUS Z170-A:

not the current ar, but new ar. There is also a z170-ar, but i doubt it has tb3. For deluxe ar, it might have tb3. Anyway it's what I've read online.

I repeat, in Asus' product lineup, the AR is an incremental improvement on the A, put still a step below the Pro. It has nothing whatsoever to do with alpine ridge.

That is the MSI X-Power.

It's pretty much a higher end version of the M-Power, which isn't released yet afaik.

The ASUS Z170-A and Deluxe as they are the only boards with some blue on them (and a black PCB). ASRock, why have you abandoned us ?

for ar now that's what it means, but with deluxe asus does not go backwards in terms of features. And there won't be a z170 pro.

Just like their wasn't going to be an X99 pro, right? The Z170 pro will be the Z170 deluxe without all the unnecessary accessories, just like the Z97 pro was to the Z97 deluxe and the X99 pro to the X99 deluxe

BLUE, BLUE, BLUE. Z87X-UD3H is the best looking motherboard. Well, maybe X99E WS too but... BLUE.

Gigabyte Z170 G1 Gaming looks like shit with that white, just imagine red as blue O_O.

I love some of the board designs of the non-ROG Asus boards this generation, and I may end up buying one. Asrock seems to be doing a decent job, too.

I cannot stand what I've seen from Gigabyte so far. Looks like it was actually inspired by 1980's Japanese mecha anime—like, I seriously wonder if that's what they may have been going for. Sad, because I really loved how some of Gigabyte's Z97 products looked.

I think MSI's looking exceptionally garish this generation, too.

So far... Z170-A_2D_575px.jpg

Z170-A_IO_575px.jpg

Like the optical audio and general value for $165 MSRP.  I think this will be my first z170 borad.  Should be a good entry/mid level product, with nice features for cooling like a dedicated water pump header and fan controller.
