What kind of games do you want to play

and the 290x is the more powerful card there.

most current games on 1080p high settings (not ultra but high)

I'd take the 970 in this case; more overclocking headroom with the lower power consumption and heat output

Ye, 390 or 390X imo, love the looks of the cards yo!

970, more specifically the gigabyte g1 gaming. (I have it, absolutely fucking amazing card)

650W is ok, I'd say either 390 or 970, what ever you get cheaper. Personally I'd go 970.

The 390(x) is definitely more powerful but the 970 will be cooler and quieter as long as you can deal with only having 3.5gb useable gddr5.

msi cards tend to have great cooling acoustics and longetivity.
