The Hangar - FSX Enthusiast Club

AlwaysFSX

My biggest problem is approaches. I always screw them up and never get anything about them right.

Well in real life, the controller usually tells you which STAR you're arriving on so you just enter it into the FMC along with the runway you're gonna use. Sometimes there's a transition waypoint too. So the plane will follow the route to line itself up with the runway and to allow you to capture the LOC and GS if you're doing an ILS. If you use FSX built in ATC, they'll just vector you and tell you to drop from FL100 to 2500ft. That's pretty much it for approach. Of course you need to work the checklists and set the minimums and baro.

I love flying the Airbus', they all have very similar cockpits, which is useful.

And flying a Cessna in FSX feels much heavier than actual-Cessna. You don't get the feeling.. I don't know, I found it much easier to fly an actual Cessna than in FSX

Well, ADS-B is actually just position reporting, not actual chatter. So by traffic, I mean real-time plane locations ingame.

Decoding on the left, displaying on a map on the right.

Ahh, that's completely different from what I found on Google. Not sure how useful it would be for me though.

Using instruments or visual I still can't get it right. Either the aircraft doesn't want to comply with slowing down when it should so I have the right approach speed, or I'm too low, way too high, left or right and have to crab it in, or a combination of all this stuff. I just can't get it right, ever. Dx

Visual might be a bit tricky to line up but instruments should line you up with the runway good enough. As for speed, I usually put flaps 5 at 210 knots, flaps 20 at 180 knots and flaps 30 at approach speed + 10 knots.

Still impossible.

They're fun for barrel rolls though.

My local flight school just announced Spitfire lessons.

For £3000 an hour.

A PPL costs just over 3 hours in a Spitfire.

Tonight's flight or morning depending on how you want to look at it will be from Zürich's Kloten Airport, to Luxembourg's Findel Airport. Respective ICAO codes are LSZH and ELLX.

Aircaft is a Beechcraft Baron 58 G1000 variant.

Notable scenery will be the river Rhein and the beautiful Swiss, French, German, and Luxembourgian landscapes on the route below.

Have you guys heard of ProjectFly? It's like a logbook and flight tracker. It's a bit wonky right now, for example my flights aren't showing up on the map but they should get it fixed as time goes on.

I haven't. I don't keep up with addons anymore, even though I should. Maybe when winter rolls around I will. :D

It sounds interesting, something I would definitely want to use for information about my flights but it's going to take me a while to load websites to look it up.

So it seems to me that FSX:SE might be completely broken if you try to LAN with an non-SE version of the game.
