As it says, have you upgraded to Windows 10 yet? and what do you think?

It's a new OS, with what feels like smaller task bar icons and Cortana.

Plenty of threads on this already but i'll give my thoughts. I love it it mixes the 2 OS' I used for years and turns it into something fast and clean.

I upgraded and so far I am loving it even with the occasional bug or crash.

Has anyone done a clean install? Do you need your product key for it or does it not require it?

I just finished doing the install and now getting all my apps installed and up and running. So far I really like it. It feels very smooth and clean. Edge is a great browser and has a much smaller footprint than Chrome. As with anything new it's going to take a bit to get the feel for where things are but so far it's, for me anyway, more enjoyable as an OS than Windows 8.1 Pro.

Is it possible to do a clean, separate install of Win10 and have it dual-bootable with my existing Win7 install?

 

I'm not 100% sure I want to switch yet.

I was working with 10 preview on a work PC but I just upgraded to 8.1 to 7.

I'm probably gonna stay with 7 until it's the new XP - that means things no longer working because the OS is so old.

10 is just like 7 with a new look. I can find everything easily and faster

I really like it.  I tested Cortana out a bit too, and she isn't terrible.

 

The GUI is very clean and minimalist, and the start menu can be completely customized.  Also DARK THEME STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.  Best thing ever.

I was working with 10 preview on a work PC but I just upgraded to 8.1 to 7.

I'm probably gonna stay with 7 until it's the new XP - that means things no longer working because the OS is so old.

Though, most games will start using DX12, if you looks at olther games you see that they supported the latest version of DX at that time it might take a while but they will start using DX12

Okay so I upgraded simply for DX12 and some under the hood stuff, and I am finding it very Arch linuxy in ways, the update system is similar to chrome OS and how Arch or any linux distro works, with the insider builds been like a dev branch of Linux, the fact it is auto is like chrome os, and the desktop think has been on Linux for ages.

BUT

It is a change for the better, I hope it stays this way, although at the moment I hate the new control panel, but I have hated everything in CP except classic view (Small icons)

I have spent the day installing it on all 5 computers in my house. Still think Ubuntu is a better option for people who are not computer literate. That said the current retail version of Windows 10 is very simple and speedy. 

 

My personal gaming desktop is updating as I type this using the download from Microsoft.

My work laptop is waiting for the Get Windows 10 app to give the go-ahead. 

Both of my grandpa's computer were being used for the insider program and have since been set to stop receiving beta builds.

My room mate's computer has been reverted back to Ubuntu because it makes more sense for him, wish he would have told me before I wasted 2 hours installing Windows 10 for him. 

 

I loved Windows 10 ever since I installed a beta build on my grandpa's desktop. 95% of the beta bugs have been hammered out and the remaining bugs deal with some of the apps. For instance the new netflix app has come a long ways in the last month that it has been available but still has some playback issues. Everything about the OS is solid though, everything works, no crashes. If you like Windows 8.1 you should definitely upgrade. If you like Windows 7, why wouldn't you upgrade?! You can set up the OS to be more like Windows 8.1 if you want under tablet mode or by making the start screen, full screen. If you miss the start menu from Windows 7, its back and much more logically laid out. Also, you can customize the start menu to fit your computing style. Also Cortana is the very first voice recognition that works more often than it doesn't that I have used. I use the location aware alerts on my phone all the time and being able to set them up while I am on my computer is something I am very excited to be able to do now.

 

I am slightly biased as I am kind of a Microsoft fan boy. I am running Windows 10 on my Nokia Lumia 1020 and loving the entire buggy experience and personally can't wait for the finished product.
