Even if you have a new house, Powerline can be a pain in the backside. New houses, while they have higher quality power cables, are often split into physically different circuits.

I'm using one between two different circuits at my place.

The m.2 for the board is 10Gb/s max, not 32Gb/s

:(

Not buying this now.

If you want 32gb/s I know the Asrock Extreme 11 supports that.

I wanted to do a smaller build, but it looks like I will just do a large build now. I still am thinking about the mini-ITX x99, but I don't know if I can deal with not having any expansion slots.

Just make sure you look ahead of time whether or not you're dealing with PCIe 3.0 4x or 2x.

You probably have to remove a PCI-e card in order to add or remove memory. JayzTwoCents had a similar experience with his EVGA X99 board IIRC.

It does look tight.

No. Jay had that problem because it had clips on both sides. These slots do not.

Good catch. The bottom tabs do not move, top ones only.

Someone should take a shot at building an matx board with 8 dimm slots. doubt it would be easy but could probably be done. Maybe with SODIMMS rather than full size.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

I too don't understand why wifi-go was not featured on previous WS and TUF boards....

I think this is the perfect X99 MATX board, shame that the original X99-E WS didnt have WIFI

Normally id say cost, but since they are WS boards it really doesnt make sense. I expect WS boards to have all the bells and whistles, and still have the certifications and quality you expect.

With the extra PCIe slots of a full ATX board you could just get an add in card

I'd love 8 dims, but alas... I love 4-way sli<.<  Unless they make it a way where I could just use ribbon cables, then I could live with it.

Soon, 16GB per stick will be common. 4x16GB is not bad, and should be plenty for most people.

Why is this a thing...

Because giant computers are dumb and pointless.

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

Yup:

Mini-itx should be good for most people. I don't know why ATX is "mainstream" for most people with 1 GPU.

Micro-Atx is for people with 2 GPU's.

And EATX is for people with 4 GPU's.

Conclusing = ATX is shit  ;)

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

My setup could probably be done on an ITX board, if I scrapped my bluray drive and my external sata port (I never use any of them anyways).

But matx can be used when you need 4 ram modules, lots of drives, 2011 platform, and all the bells and whistles, even if you only want 1 GPU. It's just interesting seeing most people's systems in here, that could easily be ITX or at least matx. Big dumb boxes full of air, ugh. And yes I have ATX as well, because my case is ATX, but my ATX case is smaller than a Corsair 450D 350D mATX case, lol. My next upgrade sometimes in 2016 or 2017, will be matx I think.

I think mATX is the happy place. Like you say the majority of people never use more than 1 GPU but mATX offers the options of an additional GPU or a PCI based SSD.

I dont really understand some peoples addiction to ATX.

My next build will be 2016-2017. My past builds have been chosen because of a case that I really like and a motherboard that has what I need. I would like to do a smaller build, but I have yet to find a perfect mATX case and motherboard.

Especially since HDD's are becominng obsolete and nobody uses the 5.25 slots anymore
