So apparently there's doping in e-sports

Bloodyvalley

Then they wonder why ppl think it not a sport because of jokers like them.

I don't understand why they need drug checks. like you'd be doping while playing.

... Wouldn't that be exactly when they WOULD take the performance-enhancing drugs?

This doesn't really surprise me after all of the pro VAC bans last year.  Also,  XiaoWeiXiao of Team Impulse recently admitted to ELO boosting, which is also an illegal practice in the Esports scene.

It's not. eSports are eSports like motorsport is motorsport and a sport is a sport. Motorsport is not a sport and nor is eSport. They are what they are respectively.

Sport can be defined as being a competitive game.

That being said, who cares what it's called? For some reason people who enjoy watching/partaking in physical sports seem to get annoyed by the fact that the term is getting a broader meaning. Like that one time ESPN broadcasted the DOTA2 championships. Grow up and suck it up, really.

Unlike with physical sports, the playing of one of said games isn't "sporting", but the concept surrounding the competitive scene is.

does adderall actually help because i would assume it will also lower judgment which i would argue is more important in cs go

It's not likely to lower judgment. It's main purpose is to stimulate the prefrontal cortex (part of the brain responsible for rational judgment, comprehension, risk awareness and so on).

Contrary to popular belief ADHD is not over stimulation of the brain but under stimulation, leaving the person with the inability to keep up with their environment.  Adderall, concerta and most psycho-stimulants speed up the brain giving them enough processing power to keep up.  If you give it to someone without ADHD the effects can vary but are mostly reported as an increased mental perspicuity, better working memory and inhibitory control.

I would say this about both Esports and normal sports.

Why not just have separate leagues, one for people not taking drugs, and one for people who are?

There is no competitive sport without doping.

Separate leagues would be too extreme - this without drugs would require shitload of testing - even weekly tests wouldn't cover everything.

Leagues without control would be really bad for health - at least now they need to be off for some time during year to pass tests.

Not to mention huge backlash because of negativity towards doping.

The thing about this is, is that n0thing on cloud 9 actually has ADHD and probably needs it. He has said on stream that he has it, and if you listen to some of cloud9's pov, you can tell. Semphis is probably just salty for being kicked and going to a tier 3 team.
