i'd suggest you get a WD blue or black instead of green, or even better, an SSD if you can afford it.

i'd also suggest getting a 750W PSU just incase you upgrade later.

I don't think that i7-4xxx will work in an x99. x99 MBs are DDR4 and i7 5xxx

Stuck with the 4790k. changed the cooler to one I'm more familiar with and is good.

I changed the motherboard to one that's cheaper and probably just as good or better I'd think.

Kept the ram

Went with a cheaper kingston ssd, it still gud.

A 1tb WD hdd.

This card is better than an R9 280

Kept the case

I changed the power supply cause CX series is a no go. It would give you room to throw in a second 970 if you ever want to.

save money on the OS by buying from reddit or g2a. buy 8.1 pro for like $25 then get a free upgrade to 10 pro

sorry. i'm not feeling this build at all. cooler is overkill. motherboard is overkill. ssd is not very good. gpu could be much better. psu is not the best.

here's a build with a great gaming monitor at 1080p. this would be a gaming build and not necessarily a workstation one. if it's over your budget, let me know. i can work around it and still include the monitor. if you're going to be gaming on a setup like this, you need a good 1ms 144 hertz monitor at 1080p

I think that I will go with what Inception9269 said, maybe change a few things but everything in it suits my needs for what im doing. Im going to a Micro Center store soon so I'm going to look around there also. Plus I already have a pretty good Kingston SSD, I just wanted another for more, faster storage. This is my first build so I'm not too concerned with getting it absolutley perfect. I appreciate the concern but I think I know what I need and this build has that. Also can you explain what you mean byit not being appropriate?

My guess is he's probably referring to the cpu. For just gaming a i5-4690k is a good option, but in my opinion if someone wants to go with a 4790k let them It's a great cpu for the price

I don't know why you'd get 3 ssds. It would be much cheaper buying 1 ssd and a 1tb hdd. Also i understand doing raid 0 with two ssds, but 3 just adds more room for failure. if anything you should at least get 4 ssds and do raid 10.

 

Also don't get a CX psu. if corsair at least get a CSM one
