This is not even close to new.

Also the odds of this catching on are pretty slim.

only people who are clueless about guns think this is a good idea

and been discussed/attempted many times already

Yeah, someone posted about this a couple month ago. Only idiots who don't know anything about how guns are usually loses think this a good idea. If I remember incorrectly this was meant for law enforcement/military yes? This would b so horrible. Imagine a policeman in the middle of a shootout with some druggies and he getshit with something and has a struggle for a gun, but when he picked it up Can't fire it because he's not gripping it just right.

It's a good idea, but when actually put I to practice it falls short.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

sometimes this is bad as some people may need defense who just have never owned a gun so they dont have their fingerprint on it also this would be very expensive and highly improbable as the finger scanner is known to malfunction

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

They have had this for years, mostly Government shit.

Guns arent the problem in these shooting

fix the people

not the gun.

Humans are less easier to fix unfortunately.

Why not put it in the trigger?

I thought the same thing, maybe it would be more likely to break if it was in the trigger or cause other issues. Better safe then sorry when it comes to guns as a lawsuit would be very costly if the gun malfunctioned and the persons family goes after the gun maker for it not firing.

These scanners are not even remotely a new thing.  And the reason they never catch on is simple.  It has to work 100% of the time, not 99.99999%.  If it ever fails when you need it, it could cost you your life.  If it fails on the gun range, you will likely never get another one cause its annoying.  If it ever fails to work when you need to it defend yourself, you just became the reason no one else will ever get one.

Same reason I don't have trigger locks or anything on the guns I have laying around my house (no kids), if something happens you either need the weapon right this instant or you have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do.  Someone banging on your door trying to get in, you have time to figure out your best response.  Sitting around and your door gets kicked in and people are rushing inside, time to just grab the gun and get to blasting.  Neither of these situations are remotely common for every person, but they are not rare nationwide.  I would never put something in the way of me using my weapon that could easily fail (low battery, dirty finger, bad grip, just decided it doesn't want to work).  Only thing I would ever do is get hidden security compartments for my guns (to prevent child access if needed).

The finger print scanner is great on paper, horrible in practice.  And the simple cost will prevent most people from getting it.

Fingerprint sensors are bad during combat due to the multitude of variables that could prevent them from functioning. However if this is used solely in non-combat situations then this would be highly beneficial.

For combat situations forget fingerprint sensors and instead take this whole concept a step further and introduce DNA registered firearms; this has the potential to be much more secure as only those whose DNA is registred can operate the firearm/device.

I don't think the fingerprint scanners will catch on for a very, very, long time as there are too many ways it could fail.

I think the radio frequency ID (RFID) and near field communication (NFC) rings and arm bands are a little more practical right now but even still I don't see these catching on for quite some time as they are not nearly reliable enough right now.

Beast PC.

And this won't be implemented, as others have pointed out, when you need a gun to go off, you tend to want to minimize the chances that it won't go off. The rest of the time, you have safeties, gun locks, and gun safes. What the world needs is for people to be EDUCATED in the safe use, handling, and storage of firearms.
