LTT Poll. How do YOU watch YouTube?

GlassBomb

Three big factors I don't watch higher than 1080p 30fps fullscreen [720p 60fps]

1.) I don't have any display higher than 1080p

2.) Over WiFi it would take awhile to load

3.) Currently all I have are laptops and a Moto G 2014 so for a decent (1440p isn't always playing at a stable framerate.)

You don't need 1080p to run 4K on YouTube

4K makes the video so so so much better.

Honestly most of the time I'm just too lazy to change it aha (Even though it's like 2 clicks), that's why I only go 4k fullscreen when I'm watching something like a 'show' if that makes sense, and then I just leave it at default for things like product reviews/build videos/as fast as possibles

And I'm too lazy to find some kind of script/program that will change it automatically for me

Although if someone linked me one then I would watch all vids at 4k (still not fullscreen though because I'm normally doing other things while watching youtube stuff)

Why? It double the bit rate compared to 1080p increasing video quality hugely and bringing you closer to what the video was when recorded.

Didn't people know this?!

I personally can't really notice the difference between 1080p and 4K on a 1080p monitor, so i wouldn't say it increases the video quality 'hugely'.

Right... Okay...

Obviously that's your opinion (that it hugely increases video quality), seeing as though i'm watching a video right now switching between 1080p and 4K (as far as I'm aware, that's what you're talking about, right? 4K on a 1080p monitor) and honestly can't really notice any substantial increase in quality.

So, not 'rekt'.

You should watch it at the highest quality your connection can handle, regardless of your screen size. 4k will have less compression meaning that your colours will be more accurate in addition to the increase in quality downsampling will give you.

~snip~

I honestly can not see much of a difference at all. Watching at 4k on my 1440p monitor.

YouTube is partly at fault for this. With their compression and everything. But I dunno.

1080p non fullscreen, because multi tasking, on a 1440x900 monitor

On PC it's 4k, on laptop QHD, so it's QHD most of the time. Could set it to 4K but I'm using HD4600 for Chrome. I'll live.

I watched it in 4k full screen on a 1080p monitor, and honestly I could barely tell the difference, if I had to guess I'd say the left one is the native 4k, and the middle one looks the worse and the one on the right is 2nd best.

But that could just be down to me wanting to see a difference aha
