Nvidia or AMD?

Mr Fister

-snip-

You said that the Titan Z has 12GB of vram. It's a dual gpu with two times 6GB vram.

Also you say that 8GB of vram is overkill at 1080P, then why can't I max GTA V, Evolve, Shadow of Mordor without hitting the 4GB of vram on my R9 290?

This video provides proof:

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

Well you guys don't even bother watching the video where it shows that the 390 scores 10% better, and it also has 8GB of vram which will be the minimum in 2016.

Also, just a note.

Albeit the Titan Z is 2x Titan. The 295x2 actually destroy it in every benchmark where the two are featured, and it costs, 2300 USD less.....

Yeah, the 295X2 is a very nice card if you can get it for 550$ on Newegg sale. If it's not on sale the 980TI is better.

we've been there done that.

then i'd go for a new card instead of a rebrand any day infact, upto OP to decide

980. Better drivers and support.

^ This, you don't need 8 Gb ram with 390 if the drivers are far too late or for 1080p in general, if you are never playing games more than 1440p, then go for a 970 or a 980.

Why would anybody DON'T want 8GB of vram instead of 4GB of vram at the same or lower price of the 390X?

Also you seem to only have a old 780Ti with 3GB of vram.

Please stop circlejerking, that's not allowed on this forum.

If Nvidia has such great drivers, why is the 390 still better in-game benchmarks?

Everyone agrees that the 980 is a death card since it's release since it's offer barely any better performance then a 970/390 for a much higher price. If he wants something better then a 390 8GB card, he should buy a 980TI.

I went with the Gigabyte 980Ti because it's the best card on the market and can afford to do so, but AMD completely dominates the mainstream market right now.

Maybe because the R9 390 is a higher binned GPU with faster memory and a higher frame buffer, ultimately offering more performance than a 970? But we can obviously disregard that and accuse NVIDIA of all companies of having poor drivers.

Everyone agrees that the 980 is a death card since it's release since it's offer barely any better performance then a 970/390 for a much higher price. If he wants something better then a 390 8GB card, he should buy a 980TI.

I haven't even overclocked my 980 as far as I'm willing to, but at 1513MHz it's absolutely spanking my GTX 970. On paper the performance difference is marginal at stock but I can see and feel the differences between a 970 and 980 considering I actually owned both. It's not a "death card" by any means, it's just in a weird spot no longer being the flagship.

because i said better driver support with nvidia, i don't think i'm wrong in saying that.

I think the past two months have proven their not better. Their drivers, and nothing more.

Does the game play on AMD? IF yes, drivers work

Does the game play on Nvidia? IF yes, drivers work

most games, except gameworks titles, AMD and Nvidia is within 10% of eachother. Now, add to this that when you play, if you own a 60Hz monitor, like THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE. There wont be a darn difference in 64 and 864 FPS. It will look the exact same. So aslong as the GPU, with optimized or half arsed drivers, whatever is the case. Can run a game at 60 FPS + at the resolutions the user is using. THEN DRIVERS ARE TOTALLY IRRELEVANT.

Now, in my case, which has a 3440x1440 monitor playing The Witcher 3, yes i would be better off with Nvidia then AMD, but even with all settings cranked up except AA, my 295x2 pulls 55-69 FPS constantly. That is an AMD card doing reasonable FPS on a high resolution in a game MADE FOR NVIDIA.

Only "final" drivers are abysmally slow. The beta drivers are out almost just as fast as Nvidia, give or take 4-5 days. Edit: apart from beta drivers not being accepted in synthetic tests, ive had no issues with ANY AMD beta driver for 3 years. THREE YEARS. Theyve all worked as intended and delivered.

I will admitt that CF optimization may be slower, but Nvidia isnt exactly rushing to get SLI to work flawlessly either, so either company can "shake hands" on that one

Double is an exaggeration. Anandtech states it's about a 30% increase in performance, and the difference between the 980 and 970 is 20% (higher when better overclocking headroom is considered).

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

NVIDIA

DRIVERS

ARE

NOT

ANY

MORE

SPECIAL

THEN

ANY

OTHER

DRIVERS

BE

IT

INTEL

OR

AMD

THE EFFING END. GET OFF THAT DELUSIONAL HIGH HORSE.

Don't mind @Rohith_Kumar_Sp he is just a Nvidia fanboy, wannabe-mod and (bad) troller.

The benchmarks showed that the 390 NON-X scores up to 10% better in-game.

Legally speaking, Nvidia should be banned to sell the 970 as it is a broken product and they have lied about the specs to their customers.

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.
