Looking for a good processor/motherboard
Ok, so I might go with the 4460, but does anybody think the AMD FX series might be better?
They are outclassed in EVERYTHING except when being forced to use 100% of ALL CORES Rendering and such..
For Gaming, they are WORTHLESS to me personally... and for many others...
Put it this way... EACH single core of Intel's is 1.65x faster than each single core that AMD can offer (Seen in Cinebench thread for comparisons)
Games do not use all cores, 2-4 cores of usage when gaming is where it's at...currently. FX suffers because when only two threads are being pushed, only two of those SLOWER cores are being used.
When Intel's two cores are used, the performance is much better due to that 1.65x faster PER-core speed, it CAN BE night and day difference on non-AAA titles.
When 4 cores are being used, same metric, half of the FX-8 potential is lost, the half in use are slow already, the Intel gets fully utilized with 4 cores each with faster processing speeds.
@Faceman has a well detailed post, from users on the forum as well as reviewers, full of facts why the FX is NOT a gaming processor.
When looking at CPU performance in Games, keep your eyes on MIN-FPS (The lowest FPS it gets to) the higher min-fps the better..
You'll see the MinFPS when the @Faceman post is up... it's quite important.
