And if you're trying to run Batman Arkham Knight:

960 = shitty 1p card

970 = shitty 1p card

980 = shitty 1p card

980 Ti = shitty 1p card

960 Has a 128 bit bus, Usually comes with 2GB Vram, 1024 Cuda cores and is based on the GM206 Chip, Generally a mid range performer. said to be the "sweet spot for 1080P" and probably is built around being a 1080P gaming card.

970 Has 1664 Cuda cores, and a 256bit bus but has the infamous 3.5GB Fast ram and 512Mb slower ram, based on the GM204 Chip

so you would be probably best considering it a 3.5GB card, But hey i like to consider it a 3GB + 512mb card, rather than 4GB - 512mb card,....glass half full half empty thing?.

maybe that this is caused by the 670 as well, I noticed nvidia was happy enough to compare the 960 to the 660 so maybe the 600 series is still fresh in their memory, and i remember the 670 and people raving about how obsolete it made the 680 since it had the same vram (2GB with 4GB versions available) and it could match a 680 with a little bit of an OC....i dunno just a curious thought.

Probably nvidia's best bang for the buck and kind of a default choice for decently high end gaming builds (the ol i5 4460/4690k, EVGA G2 PSU, SSD + HDD builds)

980 Has 2048 Cuda cores and is also a 256 bit bus with 4GB Vram (full speed vram)

This card carries a noticeable premium over the 970 last time i heard, and probably nowadays seems obsolete thanks to the 970 and 980ti. would have been reccommended for 1440P or 4K builds, since for 1080P you would have been better off going with the 970.

980Ti Has 2816 CUDA cores and is based on the GM200 chip and comes with 6GB VRAM

This card is pretty much the cream of the crop when it comes to gaming cards, for sure a Titan X Is faster out of the box but all around with all things considered the 980Ti is the superior product, Probably the best card for 1440P or 4K Orientated builds :). also is very good when it comes to price to performance.

Personally though

960 wise you would probably be better going with a 280X for gaming.

970 I'd say go for if it's in your budget

980 wise, go for a 970 or 980ti

980Ti, If you are able to i'd defo go for it

Also before People yell troll, I think it's still good to answer the question, since you know people who aren't part of the forums who maybe browsing on the internet could be looking at this too, or people just starting out getting to know their components could be looking at this too as well.

Hey bro i like yo *vomits on you*

3d firemark score as shown at the top

What I mean is, there are different scores in Firestrike,  GPU score, CPU score, Combined score, and Overall score.

If that graph is overall scores, then the benchmarks are totally irrelevant, because it won't show the actual differences as well as showing GPU score would.

Well I don't think they'd want to advertise a cpu score for their gpus.

It says the hardware at the bottom

  • 8 months later...

First of all I want to apologize for reviving an older thread (although I've seen far worse offenders in terms of ancient bumps), but I am a PC enthusiast and this specific thread pops up via Google quite often when researching the 900 series of cards. I love reading forum discussions when I'm doing research because that's the real-world user experience I'm looking for and the vast majority of the time there is quality information in the results. The main question of this thread asked by OP was, "What are the differences between the 9xx cards from NVidia?" Below I list the quoted responses found mostly on the first page from you fine gentlemen:

I don't know what kind of information you're expecting to get out of this. The names, the price, the vram... I assume you want this

Really? I mean....really? Are you all 12 years old, or were you just messing around with the OP? I understood the question 100% the first time I read it. Not once did I think, "this guy is a troll." These are by far the most idiotic and thoughtless responses I've seen in a while.

A better response(s):

-List the architectural differences of the chips

-List the specific tech specs on the cards

-Address VRAM differences, market segments and newer Nvidia technologies that have debuted with the 9xx series.

Too much work/want to tell OP to Google: That's fine, then don't post scolding messages discrediting the OPs question. Just move on and stop wasting everyone's time. It's a year later and you guys are still wasting mine because I have to sift through the nonsense "HERP DERP ARE YEW A TROLL?" messages before getting to any quality information.
