Is it confirmed that the r9 300 series is a rebrand? Im tired of waiting to buy a graphics card.

RobDaBoss

Even if they're a rebrand, it doesn't mean they take a card out of the box, and put it in a new box. There's a bit more to it than that. If the new 390x performs the same as a 290x, but comes with more VRAM, and at the same price, then you'll want to buy that. If you really want to upgrade, buy yourself a 290x / 970 right now. Just don't come back crying about how you bought early, and now can't buy a new AMD card which might just be amazing. Then again, that might not happen.

A 390x is a rebrand of the 290x with 4gb extra vram and higher memory seeds.

Now that the 290x is phasing out and dropping in price, get it!

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

Read the title, so should wait or but a gtx 970?

Its not that many more days so I'd wait. Yet they all are rebrands except the fury. I think. Ii think higher clock speeds and maybe less power and maybe less heat.

If the 290x gets a price drop and the furyX getting that much performance AMD going to start to take over.

As far as I know, prices weren't released for all of the cards. If they were, I would really appreciate a link.

My Google searches turn up no results, and PCGamer has no results on their site. ...Which is where the show was hosted.

Edit: So they sneaked it in at the bottom of their Fury / Fury X post.

Those aren’t the only new cards AMD announced: the company’s also releasing the R7 360 and R7 370, R9 380, R9 390 and R9 390X. These are all rebrands of AMD’s last-gen 200 series cards, though it’s noteworthy that the R9 390 and 390X are both outfitted with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM at $329 and $429.

Prices are always indicative of performance in the CPU and GPU space. The GPU is probably gonna perform as well as their equivalent NVIDIA video card. The AMD card is probably gonna be hotter or uses more power. I can't say anything about the Fury in terms of power or heat but prices have been pretty reflective on performance for the last 2 years. Just wait 1-2 weeks and reviews will come out for the rebrands. Patience my friend.

MSI's 390x is more than just a rebrand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RryaX3R9Vq0

It's faster than the 970 and gives the 980 a close run.

Some 390x's, however are very close to 1:1 rebrands, like the XFX. So it depends which one you look at.

They are all rebranded gpus. There is no known gpu difference. The aftermarket coolers/pcbs are getting updated though so that is always good.

Right now the 290(x) is by far the best budget card seeing a sapphire one for 240 usd is insane.
