*High Quality* audio cables

FrigidNinja
Go to solution Solved by xeromynd,

Never had a problem with Monoprice cabling, I'm sure they have what you need.

The 'sounding worse' OP is referring to is probably just shitty shielding.

I'm looking for some decent audio cables for my car stereo. I'm looking for a rather short RCA cable, a female RCA to female headphone jack, headphone jack splitter, and a rather long headphone cable (ill need 2)

I realize Linus has talked about the 'super cable' myth but I'm pretty sure there are some legitimately superior cables out there.

Budget is about $50 total. Thanks!

Why do you need three things? Can't you just get a cable that has two different connectors?

There aren't better cables for audio. Just like for video, there are normal cables that perform as advertised and there are shitty cheap cables that you avoid. Anything else is snake oil

Its either one statement or the other, if its a digital cable it just works or it doesnt, period.

Analog is a different matter entirely

The only benefit to spending more on cables of any sort is superior build quality. More robust connectors, better shielding and maybe braided cables. You get the idea

Monoprice or Parts Express are good places to shop although PE will sell you $50 gold plated connectors if you let them (they never say they are better than the $5 ones however).  Durable, "twisted", heavy gauge?  You could go DIY and use one of my favorites, Canare 4s11.  Google it and buy it in "bulk", by the foot.

For example, i have a headphone cable that i ordered from china and a cable that came with some sony headphones. the Chinese cable sounds significantly worse than the Sony cable.

that's completely unrelated to spending more or less for a cable. It may just be that the jack doesn't fit as well and isn't actually properly inserted, pushing it harder may solve the issue.

Still, that would be an analog cable, so subject to SOME difference. A digital cable is completely devoid of such differences.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Well oxygen free can improve the cable, not the sound. There is also the whole build quality aspect. And no you dont know what I do with my cables ;):P

lol yea that SD card thing

Build quality sure, but is not like you're going to use a cable as a rope to lift several kilograms xD.

I just hope that the people here are not like those audiophiles who spend thousands on a freaking cable, the things I've seen on other websites are scary as far as audio goes lol.

The stars died for you to be here today.

A locked bathroom in the right place can make all the difference in the world.

Price will never directly correspond with quality, however, as a general rule of thumb, if you spend more on somthing made by a reputable manufacturer youre less likely to have manufacturing problems... such as the cable not fitting properly.

anyway i ordered everything from monoprice. Thanks to Xeromynd and TheProfosist.
