and on Clevo laptops i have p370 em from originpc and its a good laptop.

Clevo makes the chassis and motherboard, screen + keyboard from other companies and rebrand companies add the other stuff, mostly based on costumer request.

Clevo makes the chassis and motherboard, screen + keyboard from other companies and rebrand companies add the other stuff, mostly based on costumer request.

They mostly just custom order clevos  and parts actually, and maybe have different memory and drives. 

Sager does most of this for the re sellers, say xotic PC doesn't even touch the laptop unless you order a xotic service like thermal compound replacement. 

Sager orders clevos laptops and parts, and send the correct configuration based on what you ordered. The only thing they do is buy the crap in bulk and sell individually. And they are A-OK, actually cheaper to get them through LPC or xopitc or others than directly. 

The WHOLE laptop is clevo though, even the MXM GPUs are handled through clevo. This is why certain memory options through most resellers are thje price of the memory upgrade itself not the price minus the price of the included memory. 

Things like screens can be ordered differently or swapped, actually, especially for the 15.6 in options, there are a lot of screen options from many brands that are compatible.

That laptop is a clevo laptop. 

He says is Sager? I don't get what the confusion is

They mostly just custom order clevos  and parts actually, and maybe have different memory and drives. 

Sager does most of this for the re sellers, say xotic PC doesn't even touch the laptop unless you order a xotic service like thermal compound replacement. 

Sager orders clevos laptops and parts, and send the correct configuration based on what you ordered. The only thing they do is buy the crap in bulk and sell individually. And they are A-OK, actually cheaper to get them through LPC or xopitc or others than directly. 

The WHOLE laptop is clevo though, even the MXM GPUs are handled through clevo. This is why certain memory options through most resellers are thje price of the memory upgrade itself not the price minus the price of the included memory. 

Things like screens can be ordered differently or swapped, actually, especially for the 15.6 in options, there are a lot of screen options from many brands that are compatible. 

true they almost buy everything from clevo, but some of them do some assembly, screen + ram + gpu + cpu, these are the hardware that you can change. and the only reason that you would buy from Sager or originpc or any other rebrand is the warranty and support.

For example- If oyu order a laptop from Origin PC, it's a clevo lap[top with an Origin Logo on it. Sager is the same, but the markup is really reasonable.

If you explain what clevo is, how rebranding works, common sellers, and the difference between cheap options like most sager resellers and places like origin PC in terms of benefits like support (You may pay more for origin for the same laptop, but you might get a better warranty and support than from say xotic.), different servicing/overclocking options and other things bundled software and accessories, this would give the audience important knowledge about laptops, and the ability to shop smart.

true they almost buy everything from clevo, but some of them do some assembly, screen + ram + gpu + cpu, these are the hardware that you can change. and the only reason that you would buy from Sager or originpc or any other rebrand is the warranty and support.

It's the cheapest clevo rebrand usually, and the sager warranties are not as good and partially dependent on the website you bought it from. It's hard to get a strait clevo without bulk ordering, though you can get bulk ordered clevos that are resold without branding. Sager itself bulk orders barebones laptops. The resellers dont touch them half of the time. (resellers of resellers, yes, but the price is not bad)

Origin PC and larger Sellers that charge more have a better warranty and support system generally.

probably the same case since the sager and reseller margin is much lower than places like origin, they have less wiggle room. And we all know gaming laptops can be headaches.

You can't buy a Clevo laptop because their business is focused on OEM (they sell to resellers) rather than retail (selling directly to consumers). 

 

I said the same thing last time that I'm going to say now. I don't think it's that relevant to the majority of our viewers. The ones who are going to care are the same ones who care which OEM made a particular power supply and if it matters they can spend 4 seconds googling it:

Yep I understand why you aren't happy with Venom's claim about different transistors. They never told me that so I didn't have any reason to raise the BS alarm.

 

But for the Sager, since (as you say) the information is readily available on Sager's own website, I don't really see how this really matters. For folks who are looking to buy a laptop of that specification they can go on Sager's website and buy it. 

 

If I start getting into that detail on laptops, then do I have to get into it on any OEM product? I keep bringing up power supplies because it's such a similar situation. Someone like Super Flower DOES actually sell power supplies under their own name, but (just like Clevo) most consumers will never care because they don't know/trust that brand.

The end result is quite obvious when used, we simply perform a lot better for multiple reasons.

Every notebook uses the same Intel processors, HDMI ports, etc. The differences are very subtle across all notebook computers regardless of brand.

There are main differences, for example. The Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo and Audi A1 are all the same chassis, yet very different car.

Having some common components or design elements do not make you the same. Even the Venom pain finish is different for example as certain paints have different thermal properties.

We stand by our product and the way our product runs, this  is simply the best proof where we are different, we aim for performance only and we are most definitely not the cheapest nor will we ever be.

Our products are designed to be fast, quiet, cool and reliable above all. This means for a 1% increase in performance sometimes a key component may cost 20% more. Most components and transistors we use are different.

It’s these minor differences that make our product different, it can be seen in the final end product. There are endless Frankenstein PC's and notebooks with lots of parts that do not have the right tolerances to create a singular homogenous performance PC (words from our chief designer) When you need high performance, each part is tightly regimented and this means there is little slack, which translates to defined high performance for consistent delivery.

For example our BlackBook 15, sits at 70 degrees Celsius no matter how hard and long you push it for, this is what counts how this translates into performance for the end user.

We realise that the Venom BlackBook is not for everyone, it's for our customers who require the best.

Sorry this is a different machine, The P650SE/SG is a very different machine with a different casing and finish as well as many different internals, not just the RAM, HDD and components but overall, this is not the same machine.

It is going to be very hard for me to explain in detail as too why Venom is very different here on a forum, however the end product speaks for itself independently and it comes through in reviews and expert opinions, from people who get to see everything in detail and who are professionals in their field. The way it runs and performs is its own voice in explaining how its different as its the smallest things in the endless amounts of parts and components that add up to one gigantic difference.  After all what counts is performance and numbers do not lie. You can tear down any clamshell notebook today, and nearly all of them come from the same factories that are within a 50km radius of each other. This has no influence on how the machine works as a homogeneous system.

Tolerances of just 1% in things like RAM, soldered chip-sets, panels, hinges, keyboards, material grade in casing and even the paint used on the casing - all for example - everything affects all quality engineered products and this is the difference between a Frankenstein PC, budget PC, pretty PC and a beautiful performance PC. At the end of the day, just like a car which has four doors, four wheels for example, a clam-shell notebook has a screen, keyboard, intel processor. The devil is in the detail. I see, and I totally get you were caught off guard by their crap. I think it's important because if you make a techquickie video about it, you can point to it with any future laptop video. Next time you show a venom, Origin, IBuyPower,CyberpowerPC, you know, one of those that's not honest about what they are up front, viewers will know that they can probably find the same machine from sager as origin PC for much cheaper, at the risk of potentially worse support, or they can shop around from difference vendors and get the options they want, some even let you order a paint job and engraving, or one with no branding whatsoever like my friend just ordered.

I'm not offended by the sager video at all. I just thought it was a great opportunity to mention what clevos are. It's also important to know that when you buy from somone small like a venom, you are not getting what they made, but what a much larger company made, same quality as something from origin, so it's no some janky product. It's ok to order from sager or a reseller. I get questions all of the time about the quality of the resllers, and I point them to the clevo brand as a whole to help them understand where these laptops come from.

It is really sad that with most OEMs the last sentence is really the case. Even when they are so into selling for consumers that you can find their own stuff next to stuff from Corsair etc. Like with Transcend & SanDisk and Seasonic. Even A-Data was considered second rate brand before Tek Syndicate (and others) picked their gaming oriented RAM.

This is kinda off topic of this post but i really wish there would be at least 1 company who lets you build a laptop from the bottom up. as an example you could Pentium with a 980m if you so please. i think it would be a really good idea.

Puget Systems kind of does this, you can customize a latoo from the ground up. But I don't think a Pentium is an option as most of what you can choose is on the higher end

that was just an example i was thinking more along the lines of a cheap core i3 and a 950m. it would be cheaper and give me decent performance. also pudget is EXPENSIVE AS HELL.

If you look into what goes into the manufacture of all electrical components, you realise it is all the same types or brands of electrical components, implemented in a different way.

 

It's how industry works. Stop the butt hurt.
