I currently moved into apartment and the cable guy chose to install my router far away from where i wanted my pc. So i asked him to change the location but he stated that the location was the strongest point and i could run a long ethernet cable which im not sure will deminsh my gaming speed. So my question is do i go wireless or run a ethernet cable? What are you currently running and why?

Always use ethernet if possible! It will overall be faster even if you need a long cable as ethernet STARTS to lose speed at 200 ft (60 meters). Unless you need more than 200 ft, I doubt you will see speeds slower than wi-fi.

A long ethernet wont make it any slower, it's my understanding cat 6 cables can maintain speeds for over 200m of cable? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

I just wifi at home, and ethernet at uni, but that's just because my router is downstairs and my PC is upstairs, and I don't have any powerline stuff. But if I could connect with ethernet then I would.

I use Powerline, but normal ethernet is better. Powerline is just more convenient, but as reliable as ethernet.

Hmmm do you get frequent sudden disconencts (the DNS probe started thingy D:)

Cable.

Used to use WiFi, but it's just terrible.

Ethernet is the way to go and you can have multiple devices connected with a switch

Long ethernet cable because it is the same price or cheaper for a decent WIreless Card, and performs so much better.

i'm behind around 200m worth of ethernet, dont ask me what cat it is, because its the frankenstein of cables...

i'll put it like this: it starts with a badly done connector (blame the guy that did the cable in the first place), going in an S/FTP cable trough every corner of the house, into a good connector, into a router.

Use Wired unless the cable run distance is

more than 40m you will be fine
