How do you define something as "worth"?

People, especially my parents, keep saying that buying games legitimately is not worth it, but I insisted that it is. People countless times also said that losing your eyesight to constant gaming is not worth it, but is it?

How do you define something as "worth" or "just a waste of resource"?

If you enjoy the time wasted, it is not wasted.

I do not feel like games are a waste, but you shouldn't game 24/7 or spend everything on games.

I wish I was as spoiled as you!  <_< I decided to plan on building a gaming PC but I need to work for a few months in order to get enough money to build it.  <_<

If I get more good than bad, I'd say the "Thing" is worth it.

I'm stuck with a laptop which I can't upgrade therefore I have to build my own. :\

start with a small intel build and upgrade around it (not fanboy for intel just preformance wise they are good for now)

I'll just wait until I have enough saved up to build the setup I have planned and going back to the topic of the OP,

my parents say the exact same thing. They tell me day and night not to waste my money on games. They expect me to be more social, but how can I when I live no where near any of my friends? Games are basically the only thing I got that keeps me happy so therefore they're worth it. Do whatever makes you happy, right?

With less then the amount you spend on a move ticked you can buy a game on steam (on sale) that you will enjoy for hundreds of hours, whilst a movie only entertains you for 2 hours. How is that not worth it?

Parents always find a reason. The fact that movie tickets here cost approx. $2.5 on week and approx. $3.7 on weekends makes them cringe when I told them that I want to buy my brother minecraft for $27, when my dad has TWO freakin dryboxes for his cameras and lenses

Hard to be debated, because it can create more problems :3

My friend goes with her family to the movies twice a week. While here I am getting as much, if not more entertainment for 7 years with only a computer, decent internet connection, and free games
