[Serious] How do console gamers think the next generation consoles are going to be?

Dubesta11

I am a PC gamer because I want the maximum performance and the best possible gameplay out of my games. And that's fine for me. But console gamers have reasons for owning a console, whether its for exclusives or because they have not picked up anything besides a controller and find it to be sufficient. But for the gamers out there who own current generation consoles, what do you want or expect from new consoles? The PS4 is the most powerful console because of raw horsepower, but when games cannot run at a decent framerate it becomes a problem. So do you guys understand the problem with consoles and hope that new ones come out so that games will look better and run smoother?

I ask this with all seriousness. I am just sick of games running bad because developers do not have proper hardware to develop games on. Gamers demand new and exciting games with realistic graphics, but the current consoles are unable to deliver this experience.

Hey, there's a reason why a lot of consoles sell, so they must be good in some ways at least.

I play ps4 ( First build hoping by the end of the year) I'd pretty much expect in 7 years? I don't.. Maybe 1440p 30 FPS or 1080p 60fps. Depends how affordable a 1440p system is at the time and if it's the new 1080p and 1080p,become the new 720p

I doubt 1440p is going to ever hit consoles, mainly because that is a PC thing. Sure, there are some 4k TVs but they are expensive as hell for a good one and content is limited. I hope for developers to be able to cover most of the market with 1080p60 games without loosing detail.

All I can say is, WHAT THE FUCK!

Cable lines do not run to my house, so I tether off of my phone and use my 30GB/month plan for gaming. I have to go to a place with wifi to download games and major updates, which is a huge pain. I can see why disks may be appealing.

7 years from now? Oh I'm sure a console could run 1440p 30fpz by then. 1440p will slowly become the new 1080p for TVs for consumer grade and 4k will be that luxury item.

Do you think 1440p will even be available in TVs? I mean, no content is directed towards that resolution, only some youtube videos.

1080p 30 fps for sure.

If anything, 45FPS should be the minimum, since 15 extra FPS makes a huge difference.

Maybe or 4k will just be more optimized and be able to downscale to 1440p in a good way.

Remember when they used to loose money on every purchase? What if they packed enough hardware into them and massproduced them to a point where everything would be a decent price?

I suspect it won't make much of an upgrade (I am a console gamer). Why? Because they are barely managing to make due with their budgets as is. Consoles will probably 1080p @ 60FPS next time around (4+ years from now) )with maybe a graphical upgrade actually worth a new system.

Then yeah, that would be great! I mean consoles arent that bad. If you havent experienced 60 FPS, then consoles will be awesome, but on PC, 60 FPS is so smooth, and you can actually notice 30 FPS on consoles, and i cant bear it.

I still prefer buying hard copies of games... my internet is kinda crap to download these ever increasing-in-size games... I mean, c'mon, 300kb/s download speed? Picture downloading JUST GTA5!

1080p 30fps

They don't care enough for 4k or 60fps, if they did they would play PC

"dont care enough" is the wrong word they simple cant afford it, first off, 4K is too expensive even on Pc nor is it actually playable on decent hardware, and when i say "decent" im not talking about a i7 and GTX TitanX but something more like an i5 and maybe a 970/980. on RECENT titles. im sure its possible to run 4K on something like Battlefield 3 with decent hardware....

I feel bad for him now because that era is dying fast. Everything is multiplayer based now

Excuse me? are you living under a rock or something? It´s NOT a dying era, Single player is still a thing and will be a thing for years to come.

I doubt 1440p is going to ever hit consoles, mainly because that is a PC thing. Sure, there are some 4k TVs but they are expensive as hell for a good one and content is limited. I hope for developers to be able to cover most of the market with 1080p60 games without loosing detail.

No it wont, because there are no 1440p TV´s so why should the even bother? Unless 4K TV can somehow do that then 1080p will still be a thing for awhile, wich TBH is fine....as long as the fucking hardware will mature that is.

(more on that below)

7 years from now? Oh I'm sure a console could run 1440p 30fpz by then. 1440p will slowly become the new 1080p for TVs for consumer grade and 4k will be that luxury item.

Maybe, but i highly doubt that, because then the Media would have to do 1440p Content, and why would they? 4K will indeed be the Luxery but 1080p will still be the standard for awhile untill 4K will be cheaper...but who knows, 7 years is along time from now.

Ok back on Topic:

IF they are going to make new console i demand it to be 1080p 60 FPS.

Now for the problem, First off its not 100% the Consoles fault, its the Hardware developers´s, Why? well because they focus WAAAAY too much on each other rather then what the market NEEDS.

Intel wont bother doing any major upgrades to there CPU´s because they dont need to. (even Linus has said this multiple times)

Nvidia wont either for the same reason.

AMD are to slow and can´t keep up with Green and Blue team, But hopefully with that new guy from Intel, AMD´s Future GPU´s might finally take of, if not then by 2020 there might not be a AMD and who knows how Intel or Nvidia will react to this.

Just look at today's games! Witcher 3 and GTA 5, this years so far sexiest PC releases...and you need a freaking Top tier GPU and at lest a Mid range CPU (i dont know how AMD cpu´s hold up) to play the game with MAX settings, No AA and 1080p/60-70 fps! How is that a good thing? its 1080p in year 2015 FFS! By now a i5 with a 770/280/x should be enough for that but Nooooooooooooooooooooooo Fuck that, that wont happen untill 4 more driver updates have come out, and by then new Hardware will be on the market. How is this good for Gamers? well its NOT, Majority of the gamers can barley afford a freaking i5 Haswell let alone a top GPU! and lets not even talk about monitors...

Next year it will be the same thing again for whatever Hot shot title that will be released and this has been going on for years.

So how is this related to consoles? because the hardware is too weak, and too expensive, and the game developers will have to hold back and cant go all out with the visuals and effects. (aka Witcher 3 in a nuttshell)

Both Sony and Microsoft look at cheap but good hardware but neither will get it as long as the Intel and Nvidia don´t feel like making any, and AMD cant afford to put into RnD for it. the proof is the current gen Consoles.

What i want to see this year is how DX12 will effect Ps4 and Xbone.

Will there be a Noticeable Improvement as they say? if so will the game devs Patch there games to improve FPS (at lest)?  Time will tell....

Anyway this is just my 2 cent, Hardware are being held back by a whole year TBH, so unless this 3 idiots take there thumb out of there asses and actually DO something revolutionary and make a console that could run 1080p @ 60.

45 FPS does not translate well to a 60HZ panel, its going to be a mix of fast and slow frame and be a juddery mess, if 45 is your average it should be locked to 30 on a console. if 45 is your minimum on a 60hz game than i guess thats okay

I wouldn't expect a large gain as the PS4 and XOne both use "down to the metal" custom APIs like consoles have used for 3 generations now, XOne launched with a DX11 based API but changed it about a year in, Eurogamer did an interview with 4A games where they talk in detail about how developing within the APIs the console teams allow works.

Welp, that sucks then....then lets hope hardware will make a nice leap so Micro and sony will demand something Decent next time...

I mean we might still get some benefit from Dx12 and Vulkan, but lets not lose hope, all signs show games have been getting tighter fit of the Consoles, look at Shadow of Mordor, Destiny, GTA, stuff like that, all 1080p 30hz without trouble

And nintendo? i honestly don't think even nintendo knows what they are doing, they have so much money they can coast along until they make another hit selling gimmick machine like the Wii and 3DS, or just more zelda games, which ever comes first.
