ATX and the msi Z97 gaming 7 S1150 is the mobo im currently thinking about but im open to other suggestions

 

Single card : G1

SLI without watercooling : asus turbo

SLI with watercooling : any unit with a backplate.

the prices on the gtx 970s are all quite close (from where i am anyway). im looking for a gpu that can max out almost all games, im considering the msi gtx 970 1279mhz 4gb at the moment (with plans of sli in the future). could someone please tell me if this is a good choice for a 970 or is there a better one?? im also open to AMD. gtx980s are out of my price range

I'd say the Gigabyte G1 Gaming. They chips are highly binned, so they OC like crazy.

I'm gonna be honest, it really doesn't matter that much. If you plan to SLI you might want a card with a blower, otherwise you should get the G1 970.

I agree with the g1 gaming, but second I recommend EVGA SSC gtx 970 (not superclocked), even though there isn't much difference.

if you wanna overclock, the g1 gaming is the card to go for. and they are reasonably good for sli but not better than the reference.

There is adequate space for open air coolers, but keep in mind the top card will be noticeably wamer than the bottom. This is one of those times where sidepanel fans don't bother me.

 

That said, I'd go blower if I had the budget and desire to have SLI.
