Posted May 23, 2015 No, wrong. You're seeing all the frames, just fragments of them because the monitor can't update them quick enough. If you're talking about tearing, that only happens when the monitor receives a new image while it's in the middle of drawing a frame. The monitor isn't constantly drawing though, for example if you have a 60Hz monitor, that means each frame is displayed for 16.667ms, but that doesn't mean after 8.333ms the monitor is halfway done drawing the frame, etc. It only spends a short time drawing the frame, and then holds it on the screen until the next refresh. So if you receive a new frame after the current frame is finished drawing, it's entirely possible to skip it completely if it receives a second new frame before the next refresh cycle begins.
