Can someone explain to me: taxes.

 

 

EDIT: I know what taxes are, I was wondering why they are resented so much

you walk out the door, you step on the pavement of a public road, nice to have that, especially if it's raining.

you get hit by a bike and your arm breaks, go to the hospital you get your arm fixed, nice to have arms.

you walk out the hospital and live to old age, can't work anymore oh hey look your taxes that you payed are giving back so you can be lazy till you die.

Lol yeah income tax return in Canada is great... I get some taxes back... and then because I own a house? I get a property tax notice a month later... my income tax return only covered about 75% of the total property tax haha fuck my life. :P

You pay your dues to society that pays for other things: military (significant budget in America), schools, roads, retirement funds, etc.

fairly certain the military reduces society to nothing..

I don't mind taxes. 

Tax returns are nice.

And i also get free healthcare and education. Which is nice. (And free dental until i'm 25)

but you don't pay money to the goverment, you let them use it so they make stuff for you. you pay for services that goverment provides, like you pay for your internet or mobile phone.

Oh. It's because it's such a huge cut of your paycheck. Then knowing that major companies like Verizon are getting tax cuts for various reasons is just unsettling considering how much profit they make.
