????

You claimed that militaries have not benefited society. I disputed that point with several examples of military backed societal innovation. All of the examples I gave have had a sizable positive impact on society.

Your statement was incorrect. If you have a problem with the size and scope of the US military that is a separate issue.

I like you, you used real arguments (*cough* @Kloaked)

BUT while that is true that is part of military spending the military itself did not create them it is companies like darpa and lockheed that invented them

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

That is only half of the equation though.

In order to really have innovation someone has to recognize a problem with a current product, or decide there must be a better way to do a specific task. In all of these cases (minus the digital camera) it is the US military that recognized the opportunity for advancement. Since the US DOD doesn't do research and development, they recognize that governments are inefficient at this, they take the problem to companies who work with them to solve the problems. Without the military going to companies like Lockheed Martin, you would not see these products.

You need both, recognizing the problem, and the capabilities to come up with a solution to have innovation.

If your a citizen then you have the power to vote for reps that will adjust taxes according to how you'd like them to be. It would be a good idea to study some economics so you can get a good grasp at how taxes move money and how it effects everyone in the country.

but is this the right way of doing it? why not actively solve normal life problems instead of only spending money on military research which eventually comes to consumer reach? I dont recall the government spending taxes on researching and solving day to day problems

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.
