Unreal is great because when it comes to packaging for a certain platform, you just have to select which platform and click package.  No fuss.  The free version doesn't include xbone/ps4 though, you need special licenses.

many engiens do it as that.  CryEngine, Unity...

First impression : Not a new idea 

 

Then read that it might be on DX 12 ... Hyped for graphics !

 

Being DX12 doesn't guarantee better graphics. Hell, most, almost all, new rendering techniques are locked behind DX12.1 which only the GTX 980Ti officially supports yet.

So any DX12 graphical improvements will be just upscaling old techniques, like higher resolution shadows, textures, SSAO, etc.

 

However, it does bode well for frame rate.

This generation of pc games has seen a lot of stuttering games caused by momentary CPU bottlenecks. E.g. Assasin's creed unity, watchdogs, farcry4. That's something vulkan and DX12 may fix... Even if average frame rate gains are not huge.

I've been playing this for about a week now and boy does it punch my 780ti. It shows that there's a lot of optimizing that still needs to be done, because I run it around medium settings (draw distance set to high) to keep up a decent frame rate :P But even at those settings draw distances and lighting are pretty amazing, can't wait to see what it'll look like a year from now.

I watched an interview with one of the developers on Lirik's twitch stream, and he mentioned that they are currently optimizing the game for 30FPS. I can only assume that's due to the console version they're developing, but it's a real deal breaker for me. Lirik runs Tri-Titan X's and he was struggling to get 15 FPS with ultra settings, which is just insane when you consider the amount of power available to him.

 

To go on further from the lack of current optimization: they ultimately plan to implement the game with DX12. Now, we've already heard the stories that it's going to be up to the game developers to implement a lot of the features from DX12, and looking at the games current optimization it doesn't really fill me with much confidence.

 

I know I know, it's early access, I'm sure a lot of the performance issues will be resolved before the game is officially released, but they clearly stated their intentions of optimizing for 30FPS, so I'm not holding my breath.

Because you don't have such fixed targets as 30fps on PC. Everybody has different hardware and gets different performance on PC.

30fps on a geforce 760 or a R9 280 my be 60fps on a geforce 970 or a R9 290x.

I've never heard of this game but my good it looks good. And it's starting to sound like the ultimate PC killer. See for yourself

 

 
I love this game, it needs to be optimized but it's the best survival game until now in my opinion. On top of putting a new spin to the genre.
 

Why is there a play station logo in the bottom? I thought that the PS4 is limited to DX 11, and how does the Xbox one or the PS4 have enough power the run this game.

I'm not sure anyone answered but that's because it's the Playstation channel trailer. The alpha is currently running on DX11 and it will retain that capacity at launch since well... some people might not get windows 10 or play on consoles.

I have a HD 7990 and I'm getting more then 30 FPS already with epic draw distance, high textures, epic AA. I turned the sky quality all the way down. I'm only using 1080p tho, I use the old acer GD235HZ.

Let's see what happens when I install this on my old company laptop to try and play when I'm abroad for the rest of the week. Quadro FX 880M with a whopping 48 CUDA cores, FTW! :P

 

I'll let you know if I can get it to run at all

 

EDIT: at 480p and with everything set to low it takes 10 minutes to load the map and then barely managing 8 fps in game, with regular dips as low as 2 fps. Pretty much unplayable as expected :)

That's better than the Quadro NVS 110M. It can't even load most graphical benchmarks or even max out Halo CE at 800x600 60FPS highest settings (and that's after the Core 2 Duo upgrade which really reduced the CPU bottleneck).

Never heard of it either, but UE4 amd DX12 ?! Im sold :D

Will not buy since my gpu doesnt have the horses to max it out.

The ingame screens look beautiful, sky and water reflection especially.

It's already on ue4, it's just running @ dx11.

Thing that sticks out to me most right now is the ridiculous physics. About 10% of the time you kill a creature it flies off or bounces away from you faster than you can run. No matter how funny it is to see a dead triceratops stuck up a tree once or twice, it makes it hard to take the game seriously.

Lol, the physics always remind me of those in unity-before you fix them that is. And TBH if you take a game seriously, your not playing it correctly. E.g When I'm playing an FPS I always try to get the funniest kills possible-even if it means team killing.

I have the game and yes its really fun but its very unoptimized at the moment. No SLI/Crossfire support. But it has potential to be great.
