help me to negotiate with this guy that will build me a pc

theres this guy in my country UAE abu dhabi that said he can build me a pc that is going to cost me 14500AED ($3950) and the pc he's building has

Corsair Graphite 780T Black Full-Tower Gaming Case 860AED ($234)

(2x) ASUS STRIX SLI GTX980 DC2OC 4GD5 Graphics Card 5,190.00AED ($1,413)

Intel® Core™ i7 4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) 1,319AED ($359)

Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 2400MHz 749AED ($204)

ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO Z97 LGA 1150 Motherboard 925AED ($252)

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD 570AED ($155)

Seagate 1000 GB 72000rpm SATA 3.5" HDD 260AED ($70)

EVGA 110-B2 850W 80 PLUS BRONZE Modular Power Supply 575AED ($156)

LITE-ON DVD Burner 24X Internal 75AED ($20)

OC graphics watercooling 2200AED ($600) (and i dont understand why i need it when im buying the EK-360 but he said i need it for watercooling graphics card SLI?)

total 14500AED ($3950)

and im getting a monitor

which is an ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q monitor 3,469AED ($944)

and that is my pc build i think that the price should be ($2950) and monitor for ($750) which would be fair but i asked why are some product a bit expansive and he said because it was shipped and i guess its true

but in your opinion what is a fair amount should i negotiate at? he is open at negotiation but id rather not discuss with him at this moment cause im buying this pc at june not now

Have you calculated the payment for his time building the computer? Remember - time is money and he's spending time on this computer for you and therefore wants to make a fair profit margin. Watercooling is a serious risk as well.

I think that it's fair.

If the guy is installing a water cooling kit, I'd say thats fair. Water cooling is a science, gotta make sure everything is correct and sit there planning how you're going to run all the lines. It's a deal. I've been looking into doing it myself, but not 100% sure I could.

It seems perfectly fair since he's the one who will build and watercool it.

So he's only being paid $250 for a custom water cooling loop with $3,500+ worth of hardware? If anything I think he deserves more...

This. The risk is all his and he's only getting $250 bucks? I would say that's more than fair for you. Also, shipping a big, watercooled system is spendy. I work in the business and it's a delicate and large thing to ship a watercooled system with components that can break pretty quickly.

Check prices to what you can get them for, then factor in the time and effort to build and ship it.. If he's charging $1000 for a build.. thats FAR too much.. I don't care how big the custom loop is (Which it's not.. pretty bog standard actually).

If you don't understand watercooling, I wouldn't bother.. You will have to go back to him every change or small issue.. get an AIO for the CPU and leave the GPU's.. The 980's run cool anyway.. (hell you could put the savings to a pair of TitanX's)

I'd also spend more on the PSU and storage, less on the Motherboard and RAM.

Not a very well balanced build IMO. And costing far more than it's worth. (Assuming the 2950 vs 3950 is both excluding the ROG swift)

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

Quote or @dzzope to get my attention..

Watch a full custom water cooling loop build log on YouTube. Cut and edited ones (of high quality) will easily go over 45 minutes. The build doesn't take a day. It takes days to weeks to ensure there are no leeks in the system, make sure the pumps are working properly, etc. You also mentioned he's driving it to you; gas isn't cheap.

If you don't think it's fair, then find someone less experience and risk losing all your hardware to it, or do it yourself :P

One of the only few changes I would have made, would have been the graphics cards. Would have gone with EVGA instead of ASUS.

I'd happily pay the guy up to the equivalent of $400.

He's taking a risk and he's doing custom loop water cooling.

Sig under construction.

Warranty. That's the difference. If you remove the cooler of the ASUS' cards, then you have voided the warranty. EVGA let's you remove the cooler as long as you put it back on when sending it back.

I think he should be getting paid more.

Maybe he totally knows that, unless you know how to properly maintain a full custom loop, he'll be back to help you out many many times. And those visits ain't free.

the guy that is building said the warranty isnt in issue whatever happens he will fix it so dont worry about it

what i want to know if will the EVGA boost more fps then asus if you overcloack it? or will it come up with the same fps?

It'll most likely be the same.... This dude sounds like a boss. Anyone who builds and charges that for an awesome pc and will deliver is awesome. Just think he's got a business, employees, overheard, electricity, water, a family, and so on he's gotta make some money in order to stay afloat.
