Cheapest PSU for CF R9 270X ?

FMPirate
Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

What about non modular ones like Antec's True Power Classic Gold 750? Is it any good? I think I can handle cables. At least I won't lose them.

The TruePower Classic is an excellent PSU. It's pretty much the XTR without modular.

What is the cheapest PSU you recommend for CF R9 270X?

Will 650W be enough or should I go for 750?

My CPU is locked 4th gen i5.

A 500watt would be fine for what you want.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

why would you crossfire 270X's? I'd go for a more powerful single card.

They perform as good (or even better, I believe) as a single 290

OP, an 80+ Bronze 600 watt would be enough, 750 if you don't want to upgrade your power supply for a while.

500W is not enough for 270X Crossfire.

And 270X uses slightly more power then standard 7870 (270 non-X)

If game optimization is good and VRAM is not a limiting factor.

I thought the CF was just referring to some type of cooler I'd never heard of...

650W will be perfect if it's a good quality one. In that wattage range, consider the EVGA GS and XFX XTR. There's also the EVGA 750B2, which gives you more wattage and a lower price, in exchange for losing full modularity (still semi-modular), having less efficiency, and not having hybrid fan mode. Still a solid unit however.

True, but most games do support crossfire, and assuming hes playing at 1080, 9 times out of 10, 2gb of VRAM will be fine.

XFX XTR looks good, however I think EVGA 750B2 would be a better choice for me. Problem is they don't sell it (any of EVGA above) in Europe, at least not where I live (I searched the Internet). Can you name any alternatives? I don't care much for full modularity, hybrid fans etc. "solid unit" sounds good to me :)

Get this one. It is top tier. Quiet and cost is great.

Ten year warranty. I own this. You'll love it.

Review of it.

Make no sense for me, 3 Gb VRam is already an issue for me some games. Better go for single more powerful card.

Which would bump up price to the point where 280s are a better choice.

What options are available where you live? Any particular site you're buying from?

On both UK and DE sites of PCPartPicker I see the 750B2 available

No point in G2 over B2 when full modularity and hybrid fan aren't a concern. Both are solid Super Flower units.

Yeah, but he can't get the b2, according to his post. So I went to UK pcpp and saw that gs wasn't available and figured I'd show the op this one.

He must a not searched hard. I see you found it.

The point was to find something cheap yet not terrible, but I'll consider this too. It really is a good one.

Ofcourse I would prefer B2, but it is not available. I live in Poland, there is no partpicker or amazon and such US/UK stores. We have our online stores but they don't have EVGA PSUs for some reason. Well, they do have G2, and all the other brand PSUs in the world :) Btw. G2 750 will cost me $145 and that is... more than I planned.

XFX XTR 650 is an option. Anything else for similiar price or cheaper? It has to be solid and... nothing else really. What about non modular ones like Antec's True Power Classic Gold 750? Is it any good? I think I can handle cables. At least I won't lose them.
