What should I upgrade for DayZ Standalone?

[Current build]

CPU : i7 4770 (not the k version)

GPU : Gtx 760 (4gb)

Motherboard : unknown

Ram : 16GB 1600mhz

I'm not sure what to upgrade for DayZ standalone. I want to get butter smooth FPS (40 to 50 in town) without any frame drops.

Currently, my system can barley handle DayZ standalone. In town like Elektro or Cherno (even kamyshovo) I only get 12 to 18 fps in lowest settings (so low that I cannot even see through the window from 10m) I did tried all kinds of trouble shooting but it didn't help me at all. I cannot over clock my CPU because I don't have resources to do so.

I'm currently deciding what to upgrade to bring my FPS up.

[Possible upgrade #1]

i7 4790k $309

MSI z97 motherboard $135

Gtx 970 $330

[Possible upgrade #2]

Gtx 980 $660

Corsair H100i $110 (to over clock)

[Possible upgrade #3]

i7 5820k $350

x99 Asus A motherboard  $250

16GB DDR4 ram $130

$700 (ish) is my limit. I use Asus 1080p monitor that goes up to 144hz (never gonna get 144fps in any games besides csgo anyway)

I do not use a lot of editing soft ware besides a little bit of photoshop and video editing for my school project.

I'm also thinking about getting a second monitor (1080p) so I can put up my team speak and call out maps for standalone on it.

Although I don't play DayZ but from what I see, I think you just need to change your GPU and should be good to go from there. Get a GTX 970 or maybe r9 290 / 290x. As long as your PSU can supports it, the rest seems to be fine for now.

CPU upgrade makes no sense.

Why?

Because if you had even 1000000 cores on 4.5GHz it will perform as if you had only 2 cores on 4.5GHz.

GPU upgrade makes no sense.

Why?

Because if you had even 1000000 TITAN X cards it would still perform only as if you had GTX 970.

DayZ and Arma games are just pathetic in terms of how can theytake advantage of your hardware.. because they cant.

2 things about how to run dayz better

1. Turn up settings if you can't run low. Yup you read this right, my game runs better on Max settings than medium. Must be because it uses the GPU more Idek

2. There are plenty of dayz tweaks which can be found by googling "Dayz fps tweaks" and look for ones telling you about commandlines.

I went from 15-20fps in cities to 45-60fps
