Hi guys.

Down the bottom is a link to the Straw Poll, don't think many will vote but it takes 2 seconds to set up so meh.

How do you guys run your game? I have always been a heavy Vsync user. I find tearing unacceptable but that has not always been the case. Back in my css days I always ran with it off as for some reason the input lag was super noticeable with that game. While with other games I hardly notice it. Recently I got GTA 5 and I was faced with a option of pushing my graphics settings super low so I can get a stable 60 for Vsync or do away with it for a stable 60ish with a much better visual experience.

Interested too here from people to see how they run there games. I have been debating whether or not to try and last till next generation to upgrade but after GTA 5 did a number on my 7970 I feel now is a good time. That said I hope to move to Gsync in a year or from a  1080p/60hz to 1440p 144hz isp gsync but not ready to commit yet. I currently game on a 32 inch Bravia (don't laugh) as my old monitor broke and I have not been bothered to buy a new one.

I do, don't like tearing.

My GPU (R9 290) exceeds 60fps so putting v-sync on for  smooth image quality is worth it, and dealing with a maximum input lag of 16ms or 0.016 seconds is not a problem for me. If I was a competitive player maybe it would be.

ps- for some reason I don't notice tearing in some games so I don't have to put it on

I can't stand the input lag that you get with V-sync, the tearing with it off is far less annoying.

if so Yes, if you are asking me that do i use it? No, i dont have a Gsync monitor, if i had an option, i'd go with gsync as i have an nvidia card

It depends on what system i am using, and what game I am playing.  Generally, If it is a FPS, RTS, or flight game, I will leave the Vsync off unless there is stuttering when using it. If it is any other game (simulators, building games (CNC, Sim City, Prison Architect)), I will generally have it on, a the extra frames are never useful, and I would rather have a cooler GPU than a gratuitous  amount of FPS.

Here is the thing, and I feel sort of dirty saying this because it feels like how console gamers say 30 fps is more cinematic. Unless I am playing a extremely twitchy game like Counter strike I prefer the feel of Vsync. To me and I am not just pulling shit out of my ass here I honestly think this. To me it adds a certain weight to the game and makes moving around weapons more realistic, like your weighed down by your gear/weapon... *starts too have a shower*... I felt dirty admitting that.

That does not mean I think vsync is better then the new freesync/Gsync Ill be switching to them first chance I get. However I honestly do not mind the weighted feel you get with Vsync in most games. Its a none issue for me. What is a issue is if a game is not optimized and hitting a stable 60fps is hard even with the right technology. The shutters of falling below 60 can be horrendous and I cant wait to say goodbye to that problem.

What is

Vsync?

It's sort of like the more properly named V-Sync or VSync but without the sarcasm  :D. It also lessens the cinematic experience that 30 frames offers with dips to low 10's to really highlight intense moments. (I am joking btw... Nothing against console gamers, each to there own)
