GTA 80?

Seriously tho, whats so bad about GTX1080? Apart from the marketing team that would go all crazy because it would sound like a 1080p card,...

That's the problem with it. Put yourself in a newbie's shoes. Your looking for a GPU that will let you achieve 4k. You don't know anything about Nvidia's series. And you look at the GTX1080. What are you going to think? You'll think it's a 1080p, overpriced card and go buy a 390X instead.

Gtx 990? 991? I don't have a clue. They could just close up shop and let their current cards go for as long as they can without being outdated. That's unlikely though. They will probably go for a new tag in replacement of GTX, like one of you guys suggested, GTY or something. Or they might go back to four digit cards. Or they could go with a tag like GT or something. I have no idea.

So after the 900 ti series finally releases, Nvidia will have to think of a new series of GPUs. They could always go the easy route and go with the "1000" series. But, how stupid will it sound having a GTX 1080? This card will more than likely be able to handle 4k by itself aswell, so calling it the 1080 and 1080ti will just sound super stupid. Think of Lamborghini naming their next $10,000,000 car the "Corolla".

So what do you think Nvidia will do? I sorta think they'll have to come up with a new series. Like the titan. Or maybe they'll just start releasing more budget-friendly titans? Not too sure. I have an AMD card anyway.

Marketing plays a huge part in this, so wanting to avoid the name "GTX 1080" on a card that will be heavily marketed for 4K makes a new naming system almost a certainty in my opinion. As petty as that sounds to us, that's probably a serious consideration for them.

Besides, they're basically in the same position now that they were with the Geforce 9000 GT(X) series. The next were the Geforce GT(S/X) 200's.

Honestly, that's been my thought. From purely a marketing aspect, naming your card a 1080 and then saying it's a 4K card (which they will do) would make little to no sense, and may confuse some consumers.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I'd imagine the easier way to deal with it whilst keeping some product continuity is to drop the GTX entirely.

Using an example plucked from AMD/MS: their next GPU could be based on a killer new architecture and they want to differentiate it from the rest of the stable so they went with GeForce R1.

GTX Colossus Titan

Colossus will do .. the TITAN should be for enthusiast so COLOSSUS would be appropriate to separate the two ...

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...
