True. But most people hate apple enough to not care.

 

Well, it's completely overpriced. Plus, there's a lot of anti consumer features in MacOS

True. I despise Microsoft equally when it comes to being anti consumer. It's just that Apple is so much more blatant about it, and there tends to be more of these sort of things in Mac

Well, on Mac you can't overclock. I get that this is probably unfeasible anyway, seeing as a mac wouldn't be able to handle cooling an OC'd CPU anyway, but still. Plus, upgrading Mac parts is a pain in the ass. Macs have very limited upgrading options, and what options you do have are completely overpriced, Apple-style. Also, as an OS, MacOS is very restrictive. Not much support for lots of programs (not that thats any fault of apple's, but I just find it annoying). And there's apple's hardware slowdown. Don't get me started on that. Apple products get so slow so quickly it's not even funny. Imho they do it so you'll buy a newer macbook, but that's just me

I have a 2012 MBP and I haven't noticed it slowing down . Also wine can be used for a lot of apps.

 

Compare Apple laptops to some of the top of the line windows laptops (XPS 13, surface book) and you'll find that Apple isn't actually pricing them that much higher for similar performance.

That's very odd then. I've used my friend's 2015 MBP and it's slower than dirt. And you shouldn't have to use special modifiers to run programs.

 

And not even. Notice how you said "top of the line" windows laptops. I could build a fairly midrange to low end PC that would kick the latest macbook pro's ass. And btw, the lowest end XPS is about $500 cheaper than the latest MBP, and offers better performance. The one that costs about the same as an MBP knocks the MBP out of the ballpark.

Really? You might want to check it out.

 

And no, it's not. The MBPs use 28w CPUs giving them higher clocks and iris pro graphics. And building a pc isn't as portable as a laptop, so you're comparing a windows laptop. Macs have superior trackpads, very nice build quality, no superior screens.

I have, and i've always had bad experiences with older MBPs

 

And the XPS that is closer to the lowest end MBP has much better clock speeds. And yes I am, but my point is that Macs charge an assload more for what is pretty much low end off the shelf parts. And I always experienced a weird lag with mac trackpads. And the build quality is very eh. Same with the screen. This is probably just me, but I never got the hype around the MB screens. They're really not that good imho. They're certainly not bad though.

Only turbo speeds. Base is much farther off, for good reason, as you're not gonna see 3.5 ghz on a u series CPU in a normal non single threaded workload but you will see 3ghz on a MBP.

 

Never personally experienced lag, so idk. 

 

The old old ones were ok but not AMAZING, but I'm telling you the 2016 ones pop super well.

Eh the macbooks have always seemed very slow to me. I mean hell even the newest one has a clock speed of 3.1 ghz. I could get an i3 witht hat sort of performance

 

and I'll have to check them out. I always thought they were overhyped but maybe they've improved.
