How do 2 year service agreements work for Sprint?

So my family is looking to get the family share pack and we were looking at phones. But don't you have to pay extra per month even with the contract? Like a phone would be $199 plus x extra per month and you have to stay with them right? I guess I am asking if there are other fees that are monthly.

i dont think there are any fees, but it forces you to stay with them for 2 years, resulting in a cheaper phone.
