GTX 960 or R9 280X (really confused..)

Legenderys

I wanna see your opinion about the price-performance difference between GTX 960 and R9 280X, because I saw some benchmarks and the results were really confusing. The GTX 960 is around 250-275 (euros) and the R9 280X 230-270, but exept the heat that the 280X produces, it's performance was slightly better. (I live in Greece and I use this shop http://www.e-shop.gr )

You can even get a r9 280 and it still beats the Gtx 960 in performance for less of a price.

I'd also go for the r9 280x, price performance it's the better card.

The 280x is better in pretty much every way. Performance, and in this case, even price.

So... any kind of suggestion on which r9 280x shall I consider buying?

280X is cheaper then the 960? Hands down 280X, not even a debate here.

Any Sapphire. The one you linked earlier is a great choice.

you guys forget thet 280x gona need more power D= which in turn need better/more capable PSU which in turn will cost more D= lol anyhow the choice pretty much depends on where you are... in finland 960 and 280x cost exactly the same (atleast a month ago when i built my friend's computer and had to make the same choice) but if it's just between those 2 you can't really go wrong with either... the performance differences is 1-3%...

PLEASE QUOTE OR TAG (WITH @) ME IF YOU REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT ME TO REPLY!!!!!!!

Also if your issue is solved don't forget to mark the thread as solved!
Peace!!! from a random person in the tech's god forsaken land (named Finland or as I like to call it sarcastically FUNland)

You sure?

Sapphire would be the best for AMD cards but you could also go Msi, Gigabyte. I've heard bad reviews from asus

Sapphire, XFX or Powercolor, they are all AMD partners that have been doing an amazing job with their cards.

Yes, or else I wouldn't have said it.

Sapphire is the best brand to get when it comes to AMD cards, and specifically considering the 280/X because there aren't any other cards of the model range that are particularly fantastic.

definitely 280x. The 280x performs very similarly to a gtx 770

The R9 280 might be a better value but it does not outperform the GTX 960 except in artificially VRAM inflated situations, like Shadow of Mordor with ultra texture pack. Outside of that the GTX 960 outperforms it.

i agree with the 280x and i own a sapphire 270. freaking thing is awesome. their coolers are really good. the 280x is a hotter card than the 270 i have but the smaller cooler on my 270 is overkill for my card. keeps temps around 70 degrees C on a hot summer day.

I have a Sapphire Vapor X 280x, and while it is very good, and cool (temps never go over 66) fans can get very loud when gaming hard.

Yet you convienently forgot to mention that in your "proof" the 960 is overclocked and the 280 is not, here is a trustworthy review where you can clearly see the 280x is superior to the 960

The 280 is faster in every way but personally i'd go with the 960, it consumes less power, kicks out less heat, is quieter (personal preference and depends on the card) and i've had bad experiences with amd drivers

r9 280 =/= r9 280x

the r9 280x outperforms the 960, the r9 280 doesn't, it is just under the 960. but that isn't what we are suggesting.
