GTX 970 Owners Club

It would drive me crazy if I had a asic that low.

I'd break it then RMA it

What's a decent ASIC?  Mine is 69.

Why I can't overclock it? If i look at the boost speed the EVGA is better, that's why i tough the EVGA was better.

You CAN overclock it, just not as much as other cards because it has less power draw due to having only a single 8 pin (I think).

Ignore ANY boost clock numbers. The EVGA FTW+ has a higher boost clock but gets smacked by the G1 Gaming with an OC. I digress the STRIX is built better than the lowest tier EVGA 970.

I'm also on the gigabyte 970 bandwagon not the G1 though problem is my first one has Samsung memory and my second one has Hynix so my first card is going to be limited in SLI by the second one lol. I did OC the first one though before SLI and I got 1344Mhz on the core and 2393Mhz on the memory. I haven't bothered OC'ing them now though as the SLI should be good enough alone.

So the Asus STRIX should be a better option than the EVGA if I want to OC? I never bought gigabyte, if I'm better with the gigabyte even if it's 20$ more than the EVGA I will get that one if it's reliable and good.

Depends on what criteria you have. Its the fastest 970. That is not the same as the best.

The Mistress: Case: Corsair 760t   CPU:  Intel Core i7-4790K 4GHz(stock speed at the moment) - GPU: MSI 970 - MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - RAM: Crucial Ballistic Sport 1600MHZ CL9 - PSU: Corsair AX760  - STORAGE: 128Gb Samsung EVO SSD/ 1TB WD Blue/Several older WD blacks.

For sure I want fast but don't want it to die on me after a year. I had an EVGA GTX 660 for 3 years and still working like new. I want something reliable and not cheap.

I own a 970 and to be honest its kind of meh.Power wise compared to my 780ti.

I had to do the 0 % fan mode on my g1 because it was so annoying at 34% idle

Is it loud with those 3 fans? For sure when I play games and it's under load I don't mind the fans on but when I will only be doing other stuff I will put it at 0% until it gets to 40-50c

Honestly, with all the problems you've been having I think it's a power supply problem, not a GPU problem.

VS 650-GTX 970 is unstable, CX850M-GTX 970 is unstable, thermaltake 400w (500W peak) PSU that I ran it on for a few days-GTX 970 unstable. Its not the PSU by a long shot.
