Best 7.1 surround gaming headset?

If you're thinking about getting one of those crappy things with multiple drivers per ear - dont! Get some good stereo headphones instead...

In my experience, surround sound in headphones don't sound great and they carry a harsh premium.

I have a pair of Logitech G35's and Razer Kraken's (both are 7.1) and I can honestly say that 7.1 is something that doesn't make a difference when playing games, or at least competitive ones. I pretty much use both of the headsets in stereo anyways. It just sounds better.

Its snake oil. Have you ever listened to the virtual barber shop thing? Binaural surround works with any stereo headphone. And if stereo isn't enugh get a soundcard that supports dolby headphone.

I am not shure what are searching for. Something like the g35 with built in virtual surround or something that sounds great if it is passed 7.1 Sourround by a soundcard or a motherboard.

I am using the g35 with Dolbyheadphone turned off and use my MSI GD65 to produce virtual Sourround and I find my self often pulling stuff of like pre-firing guys because I could pinpoint exactly where they were (running).

But I couldn't do any comparison to other headphones yet so the g35 might be outperformed extremely and I don't even know. I can just tell you I am fine with stability pressure it applies to my head--> comfort and the cups..... Well finally had to change the earcubs artificial leather after about 3years of excessive use. Easy to interchange and pretty nice quality low price offers out there.

"Better" directionally or sound accuracy wise(with soundcard, mobo or built-in-Sourround-technology) ? I seem to always miss the way stereo is soooo much better in fps than virtual Sourround. Some friend also told me that but I just hate the way it sounds a I can't even tell anymore if the footsteps are my own or not.
