Is thermal Paste Nessecary

the cooler already comes with it preapplied, so when installing the new cooler you just need to clean the old paste off your CPU

yes, you need it. You will have issues if you do not use thermal paste between the cpu and heatsink.

well, you COULD tighten your cooler down so tight that the motherboard is like, breaking, at that point it MIGHT work without paste.

Yeah, 99% of the time you do.  And do it anyways so you don't burn your chip to ash.  

 

Its easy, just a little pea of compound on the cpu and your all good.

Yeah, but don't actually use toothpaste 

The cooler comes with some pre-applied, so just wipe off the old stuff from the CPU with some rubbing alcohol.

yeah dont use toothpaste use nutella instead gives the whole rig a nice nutty aroma.

OP TIM is a necessity, don't you start to "rock the boat"

You will need it unless you want to cook your cpu as fast as you can. It fills in the microscopic gaps in the CPU you cant see meaning that thermal contact is better and the heat from the cpu is actually transferred to the cooler.
