the cooler already comes with it preapplied, so when installing the new cooler you just need to clean the old paste off your CPU

yes you need thermal paste if you dont want to damage your CPU

It is necessary, but if the cooler doesnt have it, toothpaste will work.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

yes, you need it. You will have issues if you do not use thermal paste between the cpu and heatsink.

well, you COULD tighten your cooler down so tight that the motherboard is like, breaking, at that point it MIGHT work without paste.

I used to run my old 2.4ghz p4 without thermal paste and it worked just fine.

You call running your CPU just under or on the Tjmax as "worked just fine"  :huh:  :rolleyes:

 

OP TIM is a necessity, don't you start to "rock the boat"
