Uh... AMD is not out and Nvidia is not out yet.. We don't know it yet

What we have heard are rumors.. The 390X is suppose to perform better than the GTX 980..

About NVidia: we don;t know. I heard a small rumor about quadrupling (4 times) the performance.. But I doubt it.

The only upcoming release we even know some minor facts about is the AMD release using HBM, which looks, really impressive. But we've not yet to see any real benchmarks come out from any trusted sources on a 390X. And Nvidia is so fresh after the release of their 900 series doubtful we'll see anything for quite a while from em. Ye know, after they release a dual gpu 980 to out perform the 390X and claim they still make the fastest cards.

You have to wait and see,
But at this point id recommend a 8gb R9 290x, It will last for a long time, And when it starts to lack in power you could just get another 8gb R9 290x in Crossfire.

Rumor is all cards below 390 will be rebranded, so i guess 380X = 290X, 370X = 280X and so on. Id get card with genuine 4GB anyday.
