I touched my thermal paste!!! :o

Richard Burton

i bought an air cooler, and when i opened the box and pulled out the heatsink my finger accidently touched the thermal paste pre applied to the bottom, i know letting oils from skin contact things like the CPU is bad for it, do i need to completely remove the thermal paste and use isopropyl alcohol or should i simply not worry?

Just to be safe, I, would. It shouldn't be a problem though. Make sure you wash it off your finger.

Remove it if you can and re-apply new thermal paste.

I personally wouldn't bother though.

If you didn't remove a part of the thermal compound with your finger, you should be fine. You can see how the temperatures are and if you aren't satisfied with the temperatures then you can reapply the thermal paste.
