What PC games should I get?

Spewky

Hey :)

I'm planning to build my PC soon and I'm going to need some games to play!

My Build (if it's any relevance):

CPU: i5 4690K

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI PLUS (ATX)

Memory: Kingston Fury Series 8GB (2x4) DDR3-1866

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Seagate Barracuda 2TB (7200RPM, 64MB cache)

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Windforce (G1 GAMING)

Case: NZXT H440

PSU: EVGA G2 750W Fully-Modular

So yeah, I'm looking for some games to play once I build this hopefully in a week or two... Any recommendations?

I'm looking for any suggestions but preferably games that aren't too expensive. I'm hoping to get Payday 2 and I already have Borderlands 2. I'm not really looking for role play games or games with super long stories (while yes, Borderlands has a story but you can still freeplay, sorta). I like FPS games.

Would Portal 2 be a good option? I'm also keen to get into some racing games but I'm not sure which to get...

Please post some recommendations of games :)

UPDATE:

I'm planning to either get a 24" 1080p display or a 1440p, not 100% sure yet :)

Hell yes it would be.

I'd also suggest Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon: super short story, goofy as hell and loads of fun. Saints Row 3/4 are pretty good as well.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Dang, that's a lot of replies...

Hell yes it would be.

I'd also suggest Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon: super short story, goofy as hell and loads of fun. Saints Row 3/4 are pretty good as well.

I'll look into them. I'm not sure about Far Cry 3 as I think my friend has a fake copy which I could gate. Blood Dragon, it good? Cost money?

Portal series!! Go for it!

Haha, which one do you think is better?

Half Life, Mirror's Edge, Bioshock (any or all), Skyrim

@xSpaceSheepy1

Which Half Life and which Bioshock... I have Skyrim on a console (no hate plz :3) so I don't think I'll get it on my PC. I've heard the Bioshocks are loads of fun and it would seem awesome!

CS GO!!!!

Already on my wishlist for when I get this PC. I hope it's fun! Is it a pay2win game where there's loads of ingame purchases?

Portal Series

Half Life Series

Outlast

Far Cry 4

Bioshock Series

Battlefield 3/4

I think I may get Far Cry 4 on my PS4 and I already have Battlefield 4 on my PS4... (no hate :P ). Which Bioshock do you recommend and which Half Life? I'm not sure I can get them all :P

theres not really any goodd racing games for the pc

Dang, I've heard of one called The Crew... Is it good and worth it?

bioshock cs go any hald life battlefield portal maybe batman

Ooohhh, batman? Which on in particular?

Project Cars pls

I'll take a look at it :)

Half life series
Portal
Bioshock series
Battlefield

Don't think I'll be getting Battlefield (stated a couple replies above)...

Metro: Last Light, Space Engineers (maybe).

It's sort of a standalone DLC. The only thing it shares with Far Cry 3 is the engine and the name.

-snip-

I have Bioshock Infinite and it's fun. HL2 is probably best, but all are good I think :)

I played Skyrim on PS3 before (no hate for you), but playing it on PC is so much different.

better graphics, MODS, playing with mouse and keyboard, MODS, being able to change FOV, MODS!!!

The Portal series, the original Deus Ex is brilliant if you can get past the dated graphics, The Witcher is pretty good if you can get past the combat.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

I'll go look up Bioshock Infinite and HL2. :)

I guess there are advantages to playing on the PC like mods, and keyboards and mods and all, but I think I'll just keep it on my PS3 :P

Thanks for the help :)

What do you mean getting "past the combat" with The Witcher? I'll go look up Deus Ex. Thanks :)

Basically, the combat is a sort of third person, real time strategy like combat (similar to things like Dragon Age), but it has a large emphasis on rhythmical (almost dancing like) combat. I should also mention that there is some nudity in it, if that bothers you.

Edit - Before I forget, if you do pick up Deus Ex, install Deus EXE as well, it lets you do some very useful things like change FOV and run it at 16:9 resolutions.

Hmm, thanks for the tips with the Deus Ex. As for the nudity? I don't think I'll be getting a game with that.. :P

I'd play both, but if I had to choose I'd go with Portal 2.

War Thunder.

You can't go wrong with free. Especially the best free multiplayer game on Steam.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Tomb Raider (2013)

The Evil Within (if you like survival games) or if you can get it really cheap in a steam sale sometime in the future it's worth playing just for the opening chapters.

Bioshock Infinite

Alien: Isolation (if you can get it in a sale)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (rather than Half Life (Half Life did not age well (imo))

Thief: Master Thief Edition (2014) (if you can get it in a sale and if you don't expect too much from it (people were really disappointed with it). I was assuming it was going to be terrible and it's not great but it's okay (if you can get it in a sale)).

Styx: Master of Shadows (I've not played this one but it looks interesting and seems to have received favourable reviews)

Portal (& Portal 2 if you enjoy 1)

Dishonored

Hitman Absolution

Far Cry 4

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Thomas Was Alone

Fez

Metal Gear Ground Zeros

Telltale Games: Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones,
