which is against forum rules??? i dont know...sorry

It is the same thing as downloading a movie you are supposed to stream.

It is pirating.

Thats like if i had a netflix subscription and i downloaded everything to watch afterwards when my subscription has ended.

I dunno either, but I'd presume ripping video's from people who make money off youtube may be not so good...

And SERIOUSLY.. you could have google searched this.

We might not have a choice until Linus releases a DVD set. :P

keepvid is amazing. Also http://www.youtube-mp3.org/for music.

Isn't that illegal or against the forum rules...

People have been ripping YT vids and music for years. Nothing can really stop it.

Although OP should just search the internet.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. OP I highly recommend against the programs/sites suggested in this thread.

Why? Because all of them transcode the video/audio, which means you won't get the original file (you will get a lower quality version). If you want the original file then I recommend something like YouTube-dl (standalone program) or YouTube Center (browser extention/userscript/addon).

type in ssyoutube.com/whateverclip you're watching to download from youtube is how I does it. Fast, simple and you don't need any addition crapware on your PC. the cons to this that this site tops outs at 720p, you can go to 1080p but no sound

Only if you do it without the uploaders permission.

don't bother trying to find a youtube downloader on chrome. firefox has so many its not funny. Now that firefox are loyal to yahoo, its even easier to find a youtube extension.

I would recommend JDownloader for the job. It's a free open source download manager that works perfectly with YT and receives regular updates. It captures the stream directly, without any transcoding or tampering and allows you to download only the audio track, if you don't want to wait for the full video download.

youtube-dl is the best and works with many more sites than simply YouTube. It's open source too.
