Microsoft has announced DirectX 11.2, which will be exclusive to Windows 8.1 and Xbox One. According to the video below, courtesy of Evil Avatar, one of the new features touted is called “tiled resources”. This will allow video cards to use system ram to improve texture detail. It’s all very technical, but in other words, it will make things pretty, or something like that. Watch the demonstration below.

Included video;

Looks like another DX10 Vista bs.

I remember hearing news about DirectX12 being exclusive to win 8 last year, but now it seems it's 8.1 and Xbox one

Damn Micro$oft trying to get us to buy their new products! Can't a man just play a game anymore?

Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

This isn't really different from what they have done in the past. DirectX 10 is Windows Vista and up, DirectX 11 was first Windows 7 only (then released for Vista a while later). DirectX 11.1 is Windows 8 and newer only (only partially available for Windows 7).

Why should I care? DirectX is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant due to OpenGL finally getting to spread it's wings.

It'll be a while before DirectX 11 becomes the standard for all games (excluding consoles), I'm not worried.
